I haven't experienced this softcap until recently. Man!! really at turtle speed bandwidth .. worst than dial-up. In the past, did have some manageable headaches with this ISP (vif.com) plus the most is the free dial-up in major cities if I am on a road trip. Guess now that I experience this softcap policy of theirs on my dsl and also getting an average of 2.5m from my profile (4m). i am moving out for good. On top, Vif.com seems to bump me into that low speed if I don't call up to complain every now and then. Well, today is my last straw and giving my seven days' notice to cancel my DSL contract. Switching to teksavvy's premium dsl afterall 200gb should be enough.

Finally got email confirmation on my cancellation. My vif account will close for good on 29th Feb. Now it is time to sync with teksavvy and hopefully to 'rock n roll' with better speed performance and services.

Just unable to let this off the record. At this moment, test the speed on vif.com and it shows 352.109KB (2816.87kbps) but downloading a file is at 1.5kbps ...yek!!. That's is softcapping. BTW, accessing the ISP webpage is instant while others take ages ... my beard is growing faster than loading those webpages on my computer. >:( A real joke, so run through speedtest.net 1907kbps.

Also vif.com states unlimited bandwidth .... ya! right once you hit over 100gb (or over 50gb oer 15 days period) you are down-throttled, accessing at a turtle speed for next 15 days to get 'normal' dsl service. So be more aware.
