My friend got bursary to take a post-seondary level program as full-time student. The T2202A slip only shows the tuition fee, which is less than the bursary amount she received. The difference was used to cover the book and bus ticket costs. Does she need to fill the difference to line 130 as other income or fill zero? Can she claim the public transit amount on T1 Schecule 1? And does she need to fill T1 Schedule 11?

Usually the bursary receipt is separate from the T2202A, so it might be in the mail still. And yes, it is separate, on Line 130 i believe [scholarships/bursaries, etc].
Anyone who purchases public transit passes [with the receipts still], can claim the credit of [XXXamount times 15%] i believe.
I would tell your friend to sign up for ufile for free, and file it through there.
It is very straight forward, and will calculate the return/owing for you.

As of the 2007 tax year the total amount you receive as scholarships or buraries are no longer taxable and do not need to be recorded on your income tax return.
Here is the link to the CRA site in the topic: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tax/individuals/topics/income-tax/return/completing/reporting-income/lines101-170/130/scholarship-e.html
The T2202A is your tax credit for attending a post secondary institute. It is a separate item alltogether.
Good Luck!
