The mirror on my d70 locks up on my D70. With second press of button mirror drops down again. No picture is taken.
Any advice on how to repair or an inexpensive place to get repaired?

You might want to take it down to Nikon in Richmond. They have a full repair facility there...

not sure about the d70 but i know canon bodies allow a custom function to shoot a shot doing this to reduce vibration from the mirror. how it works is the first click drops the mirror and the when u hit it again the camera takes the image and then the mirror drops back into place. this is better than if the mirror opens up and closes because it causes 2x the vibration. as above stated try to reset the settings because it could just be the custom function hit by accident.

The D70 doesn't have this function (mirror lock-up).
Definitely, do a full camera reset before bringing to service centre.
