It seems same as they both say they are made from kevlar with all info including weight being identical...like copy n paste...in the description or the seller is not disclosing..and is selling bogus material... and scamming ppl...Which one is safer? UHMWPE or Kevlar?

Just out of interest...why do you want/need a bullet proof vest? Did you wake up with a horse's head in your bed? Did you sell some dodgy caviar to some Russians or are you thinking of working in Tim Horton's in Kandahar?

Some people need to learn to address root causes, rather than dealing with peripheral effects! ;)

OP, good luck with the shooting....I hope it goes well for you.

I'd reply with the common "this place is full of unintelligent blah blah blah" but who am I to judge..

Anyways, I believe after doing some research on the seller that both vests are legit and certified but what i'm a bit confused about is the description.

The Kevlar ones are $100 more expensive when he explains the MSRP. Also, all description is identical except the part where it describes the fiber.

So I'll assume Kevlar is more expensive than the alternative.. but I need to know why. I've read that kevlar is really light, so maybe thats why its cheaper? But is lighter better?

Thanks for the replies, I guess.

p.s you guys arent funny.
except the joke about tim hortons :)

Not to be critical of anyone on RFD, but I don't think the chances are high that you'll find an expert on vests. Are there any chat forums on the topic. You might find some by using Google. At least that way someone might be able to get to the bottom of your quandry.

There is actually a Tim Horton's in Kandahar.

As for bullet proof vests, well, that would be like selling nuclear shelters too. If it fails you're not exactly going to be in a situation to sue are you?

Also, although Kevlar is light etc I'm fairly sure that the military uses this in combination with ceramic plates.

But unless you are a nightclub bouncer or you live somewhere on Jane I still don't know why you would need one.

Next time you see a cop wearing one, just go up and ask to see what brand they're wearing.

Kevlar is so 1992 - Dragon Skin is the way to go... But if you really want a bullet proof vest I suggest you go over to the States and have it custom fitted to your size .. the thing is you have to have the exact size that you want or it is a waste...

Come over to Detroit - they will fit you real well within 200 meters to the Border too a gun shop

OP could be starting a job at a security firm like Brinks.
I would want to wear a vest too if I was transporting large sums of money.

I would feel a little bit safer stealing the money with a vest because beat cops have small caliber guns.

If the company supplies you with bullet proof vests and they already have bullet holes in them, you should turn down the job.

if the company supplies you with bullet proof vest that has holes in it, it's a very huge sign that the company don't look after their employees. I'm sure you don't need this kind of risk in the workforce.
