My walk on my commute is long! With all this blowing snow, I'm soaked by the time I get to the office. Where can I get these waterproof pants that have velcro along the whole length of the leg, so I can just rip them off when I arrive at work? What are they actually called? I'm looking for the lined ones, not the plastic ones ....

These ones at MEC are an example but theyre zipper instead of velcro

Generally, the ones that are velcro are 'tear-aways' and mostly used as warmup pants in the gym. They won't do you any good since they might get ripped out when you're walking thru snow.

You're mostly looking for snow pants or lined pants with zippers for easy removal. If you're going to be outside for a bit and doing alot of activities, you want to get something waterproof, light, and breathable since you're already dressed for warmth inside the snow pants.

I have this pant but in the women's one. I guess they sold out of the women's one as they are very good.

They do not have the velcro all the way up the leg but they are waterproof and look like regular pants when u have them on.

The difference with the Men's one is just the sizing, as i have bought a few men's fleece and items before and the fit for outdoor stuff is very similar.

I used these for ski pants and thr fleece is not bulky at all and sat in snow for 30 min and was fine (was nowhere else to sit

MEC is also very good for shopping and you can see stuff in person.

I like LL bean as you can return anything anytime- even 5 years later:D

The pants that are similar to these i saw at the mall were $250 Salomon ones and the exact same thing w no brand on them..only difference.

just head to any respectable sportswear store and ask for "snow pants or ski pants"

you'll find both insulated and non-insulated pants

insulated are warmer of course and non-insulated tends to come with better fabrics (more waterproof, more breathable, etc... vs insulated)

Sport chek and sport experts has a really crap selection this year.
The prices are ok..like $100 and up..but all their pants are awful colors and really bulky snowboard type stuff.

I would say MEC or LL bean has the better return options if you get the wrong pants.

with sport check I doubt you can return something 2 months later..with MEC or LL bean...even 4 years later is ok :)

note that some products are made in Canada and some are made in China, China ones are cheaper but still somewhat pricey.
