Just bought 2 of these for 2 XP notebooks, and now both are running in 1024MB smoothly.
IMO it is a good upgrade under $10.

i was on one of those ram chat supports to figure out what kind of ram my laptop takes.
i was told:
non-ECC PC133 memory, no more than 256MB. And it should be a 144-pin SODIMM, laptop RAM.
ignoring the "no more than 256mb" part- does the rest of the info tell me if i can use this kinsgton ram? it didn't say ddr2 or not..but i don't really know what the rest of it means.
anyone can help would be appreciated.

did you notice a lot of members are selling 512mb sodimm ddr2 modules for $10 a piece here? you could have just bought 1 gig module for $20 or 2 gig module for $40 and leave room for future expansion.

The memory listed here won't work with your system. This RAM is a 200 pin chip, and what you are looking for is the older 144 pin model. PC133 SO-DIMMs are relatively rare and expensive, at least from what I have been able to find. A quick check on tigerdirect.ca shows the cheapest 144 pin PC133 SO-DIMM at $47 for a 256 meg module, and the cheapest 512 (assuming your machine can even use it) is $104.
Hope this helps.
