I've done a quick search and google, not much help..

I know the print is supposed to fade after a round in the washer. The only method I know of is to turn the shirt/sweater inside out to protect the print on it, but still seems to fade. A shirt I bought had a white print on it and after one wash its all faded..

Are there any other tips I can follow that will protect the prints so they will last a little longer?

I think the only solution is to hand wash the shirt/sweater

+1

I used to own a lot of printed shirts, and the only solution to prolonging the prints on the shirt would be hand wash and hang dry. Putting the shirt/sweater in the washing machine and dryer pretty much killed the prints.

yeah, here is a tip, dont buy $100 tshirts if you can't afford them

Even if people had the money to buy $100 shirts they may still want to maintain the prints on some. Why? because not every shirt is mass produced. There are some limited edition stuff was made in small quantities or people want to prolong the life of shirts they can no longer buy.

As for the OP... I usually have my shirts hand washed and hang dry them. If you want to use the machine... turn them inside out and wash them on low/delicate. Don't use dryers cuz dryers kill any kind of clothing really. Just hang dry your stuff.

Don't wear it out in the sun. UV light is what causes fading faster than washing it.

If the shirt isn't dirty and just has an odour, steam clean it.

-wash in cold water
-use mild detergent and only in moderation
-use front loading machine rather than a top loading machine
-as mentioned, the dryer is what kills clothes
-its better to lay clothing flat to dry rather than hang dry. Hang dry will stretch out the fabric. Layout an absorbant towel and lay the piece of clothing on top. This is an especially good method for sweaters.

In the end, the print is always going to detiorate.
