Try the Levi's store?

The one in Vancouver has them. I didn't take a good look at them, but they're labelled as "special edition" on the tag, and costs $150.

If you can go across the border, Sears and other department stores has them for about $40 (less if there is a sale). Maybe even cheaper at the outlet, but sizing and quality may be irregular.

Look at his location: California, he might not know about Winners :cheesygri

And let's give him the benefit of assuming he's talking about some special edition 501s, and not the ones you can find in a department store, before we laugh him out of this thread ;)

The Levis store in Toronto don't have them. Sears doesn't have them.

You have to go to Over the Rainbow in Yorkville. They'll cost like $75, which in is a rip off considering they cost about $40 USD at Macy's in the states. The thing is, when I was at Macy's in Boston I noticed there weren't really many sizes and they were tossed all over the place like ass so maybe you get what you paid for.

Speaking of which, don't expect awesomeness out of these jeans. I've got some decent honeycombs, but after 3 months of 6/7 days a week wear I barely have any whiskering and I'm barely getting any wallet fades (I keep my wallet in front pocket though). Also, the fitting isn't the greatest, maybe if you hop in the tub wearing them and wear them to try but I didn't do that.

I actually want to try that...

How did you wear yours? As in, did you shrink them? How, wash in washing machine and then into the drier?

Did you follow the instructions about buying 1 inch more in the waist, 3 in more for the inseem, etc?

Well I'm usually a 30/32 for normal jeans, but I decided to go for the 30/34. The problem with the 31 waist was the jeans were just way too baggy. I think Levis already sizes them up. They had no 34 inseam so that's why I bought it. Luckily I did, because the jeans shrunk perfectly to the right size (waist was hella tight at first, but within a day it stretched comfortably).

After I soaked them for like 4 hours I hung them to dry till they were damp and then I wore them while I was sitting at my computer. Nastiest feeling ever - I don't want to do it again lol.

I actually haven't done a wash yet, I figured I'd just hold out a bit more (it's only been since October). I do have a pair of Nudies lying unworn, so I suppose I'll be washing them soon.

That sounds like the price for the regular 501. The better finishes are 79.99 (or 80). I have not seen a pair of Shrink To Fit 501 at the Bay...

I just purchased BNWT 25x36's. These are USA made in 1993 student fit. I am so excited. I came on this forum to see how best to shrink the jeans. My washing machine has hot cycle but only cold rinse. I do have a jacuzzi bathtub. So either way? Then dry partially and wear until dry? This sounds like a daytime thing. I don't want to sleep in wet jeans. You guys think you have a hard time finding 501 shrink to fit? Well try being a small woman. I will check back here for suggestions before I plunge in hot water.

Interesting, I don't think I've seen a girl wear these. For maximum shrinkage you'll want to use hot/warm water. Unfortunately, you'll also lose the most dye that way so you have to strike a balance. Keep in mind they'll also stretch within a few days.

If you want to be hardcore you can take a shower/bath wearing them. Personally, I just soaked them and sat around for a bit letting them dry on me...I'm never doing that again because I hated the nasty feeling of wearing wet jeans.

Well I washed my Levis in Hot water, cold rinse. Then I partially dried them in a hot dryer. When I put on the jeans, I had problems buttoning up to the waist. The hips and legs were tight and the waist was too small. I finally got them on and walked around my house for an hour. Then I hung the jeans. When I woke up the Shrink to Fit jeans were still damp. The waist now fit and hips were too baggy. The rise is too ling in back. I wore them a walk outside and they are dry. Any suggestions on further targeted shrinkage? The legs and rise are still too long. Maybe I should have started with 25 x 34s, instead of 25 x 36s. The hems are an easy fix, but the rise may involve sewing.

Any input on further targeted shrinkage is appreciated. I just don't want to shrink the waist around.

Incidentally, if anyone from Canada or USA needs new shrink to fit or preshrunk 501 jeans in any size and good prices maybe I can help. You may email me at jeannine_ebay@yahoo.com.

Sorry, this post is late since you shrunk it already, but I used this guy's method:
http://1isa2isb.com/501_shrink_to_fit/

He's made a new article in which he actually wears his jeans in the wash, but I don't think I'll do that... yet.

CherieT, what kind of prices are we talking about? You can PM me.

Also, to those who are interested, the new 501 STF are out. The new preshrunks are out too. They are slimmer in the thigh, so if you fit nicely into the current ones, make note of which one you buy in the future.

yea, everything else fits fine. the waist is perfect(even a little tight), and everything below the knee is fine...just whats between the knee and waist is really baggy and it looks really awkward

That is the style of these jeans.. the thighs on mine are wider too and the back pocket area is like puffy also. So nothing to worry about.

3 months of wear(don't wear like crazy tho) and never washed

Yeah the fit on the 501 stf's are pretty bad, from the knee down its pretty alright but the fit on the thighs are just ****, I bought them at Over the Rainbow too so it was a ripoff. I usually don't regret any of my clothing purchases but this one was definitely really ill advised of me. In my opinion you can spend that money somewhere else or pay a buck or two more for something much better.

for roughly the same price i like my morrisons infintely times better...i used to wear them all the time until i lost some weight and they don't fit anymore, luckily i'm getting a pair in my new size...i haven't even worn my stf once because it just looks really stupid

They still carry Raw Morrisons in Toronto? Where they at, I've been looking for them for awhile

Then the new 501 may fit you better. For me, the butt is a bit poofy, but the legs (including the thigh) turned out fine for me.

I don't think you can ever be 100% sure of what will happen when you try to shrink clothing. I got mine in the States so they were around $30, vs $75+ in Canada.

BTW, does anyone know if there's any difference in the blue vs the black STF? All the blue ones are really stiff (a lot more starch, perhaps?) off the shelf. I wonder if they're like that after shrinking.

Levi's store on Robson, or the one in Metrotown.
Robson store has STF ($75-$80), STF Special Edition ($125 - $150), and LVC ($200+). Price range is because I can't remember exactly what it was. Those were the selection last time I went, which was like 2, maybe 3 weeks ago.
Metro has the regular STF (same price), but not sure of the others. When I went, they already stock the new cut for the 501's. They also had pre-shrunk Capital E for $99, but not sure if that's still on.
