View Full Version : Toronto Symphony Orchestra Tickets for $10-Under 29 only

This 'deal' is not new and it runs continuously, but I'm sure there are people who don't know about it:
The Toronto Symphony Orchestra is trying to promote classical music to the younger crowd. A tough sell, but it means aggressive pricing and cheap tickets.
Basically, anyone under the age of 29 can buy tickets to select shows at Roy Thompson Hall for the price of $10 each. They have a show every couple of weeks that is eligible. It is only for select shows, there is a limit of 2 tickets per person, and you will not get the best seats in the house. But anyone who knows what these tickets normally cost knows what a great deal this is.
I went to see Ben Heppner there a few weeks ago and the seats I got were actually very good, up in the balcony but close to the stage.
Anyways, if that's your cup of tea, check it out, it's a great cheap 'classy' date. Membership is free, but under 29s only. Your guest however can be of any age.

Thanks alot Kurtz, I had no idea. I live downtown and always want to go but find the prices prohibitive. I just turned 29, but luckily my wife still qualifies for another year. To confirm, she can buy tickets for both of us right?

Catram, i just checked on the web site, and my mistake, valid ages are 15-29.
So you can still buy tickets until you hit 30. Alternately, your wife can buy tickets for the two of you. You just have to register online and they'll mail you a membership card.

Hot Deal, I'd definitely take that up if I lived in Toronto.

I saw Holst's "the planets" last year and it was great. $10 well spent! Soundcheck seats are good seats too. Last time I was there it was on the main mezzanine, in the middle section. Sound was great. They sometimes also have receptions after the show where there is free food and drink.

No. Your guest may be anyone of any age."

I was wondering the same thing.. This could potentially be a good Christmas gift.

There seems to be a new Tsoundcheck eligible show every 2 weeks or so, this time of year.
I think the season runs Fall to Spring, I don't think there are any shows in the summer.

Do they require you to show ID at the entrance? I am just wondering how they can enforce the restricted age rule. What if you bought the tickets, but can't go and decide to give them to your parents or relatives?

when I was 29 (and under) I used this deal a lot. Be prepared for tons of calls later to donate/buy packages/etc. I get a fundraising call at least once every 2 months. Still a great deal though.

Tickets raised to $12, but still significantly cheaper. Great deal for the best music! Nothing beats the classics.
