Ask advice of digital audio recorder

I am seeking a digital audio recorder for music and songs. Most of products in the store is digital voice recorder. Also some mp3 players can recorder voice. Saleman said their quality for music may not be good(?) . I do not know if there is a digital audio recorder for family use. I do not want the pro-product since it costs too much. Any suggestions?
