Teksavvy - unlimited unthrottled adsl service for 39.95 (you buy your own modem) or 200 gig traffic, unthrottled premium (has better routing then their unlimited, it was made for gamers for lower latency) adsl service for 29.95 (you buy your modem)
I donno about cable as I will never use it.

Teksavvy would be best IF you have a good line and are close the the Central Office. If you dont then your only other choice is Cable since if dsl from 1 company is slow then every other dsl company would be the same.
Also this is not a very good topic since everybody will be different.
But here is more info about Teksavvy.,
Website: http://www.Teksavvy.com
Forum: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/teksavvy
Download Speed: Up to 5mbit (about 520kbps)
Upload Speed: Up To 800kbps
Download/Upload Cap: 200GB/Month
Price: $29.95/Month + Tax
They also got Unlimited Bandwidth for $39.95/month but 200gb is probably enough. Also for every person you refer you get $1 off your monthly bill as long as they are still a client at Teksavvy. {p.s. Refer me when you sign up, pm me for more info ;) }
You will need to buy a DSL Modem, you can buy one from Teksavvy for $99 & they will configure it for you if you ask. OR you can buy the same modem from these guys for cheaper but you have to configure it yourself, which is not very hard.
SpeedTouch 516 ADSL2+ Modem: http://www.infonec.com/site/main.php?module=detail&id=350362
Notes: Tech support is all Ontario based not out sourced to another country where you cant understand what the person is saying. Also tech support is one of the best of any Internet Company in Ontario that I know of.

I'm not sure but i think they do provide service there. Best thing to do is either post on the forum or send them an e-mail or if you want give them a call.
you will be very happy with the company

I believe we need to split this thread into regions as different regions have different companies... and I can imagine that the service and support may vary between regions for each company.

Shaw's been good to me in the last couple of years. Speed is great and consistent (4.8-4.9 mbps out of 5mbps), and the 60GB cap is very reasonable imo. --- GVRD

Shaw throttles. That puts them out of the running for most people.

What do they throttle anyway? BT upload? I have no problem uploading at 30kb/sec on Azureus. Maybe the account is not on their radar yet? :cheesygri

Rogers, Bell, Telus, etc... They all suck. but the one that sucks less is I guess Rogers. I'd say stay away from Bell.
Speed: If i' downloading stuff off of Bit torrent, I get around 900kb/Sec Average.

My recommendation would be Uniserve (ca.inter.net). For $29.99 you get 5 meg dsl, unlimited bandwidth, no throttling, quality service, 24/7 tech support based in Canada, and 25 hours of dialup a month.

Maybe in Ontario, but in Vancouver Uniserve costs $35/month for 1.5 Mbps service. As others have pointed out, pricing is very different between different regions of the country, depending how much competition there is. In Vancouver there is one DSL provider: Telus. They allow resellers like Uniserve to undercut them, but not by much, and there's no way they're going to allow a reseller to hog bandwidth on better terms than Telus offers themselves.
Woah!

Telus just upgraded my3yr contract $40.95/mo 3.0 service to 6.0 service for the same price.....and I was only 1/2 way through my current contract.
OMFG!!!!! The DL'ing speed is insane!!!!!!!!(compared to what I'm used to that is)
Nice loophole in my contract.....can't downgrade without incurring a penalty...but upgrading is no problem.
The catch is(for them, that is),the faster service is currently being offered for what my contract price is.
So....I upgraded to 2X the service for the same price.....NICE!!!!
Hope that info can help someone else out.

On a side note, not sure what happened but I don't seem to be capped by Rogers anymore. The last few days I've been bittorrent uploading at full speeds and downloading at full speeds. For the longest while I was getting limited at about 5kbps for uploads.
I have TekSavvy at my other place and they come highly recommended otherwise.

The best internet service is from TekSavvy.
The worst internet service is from Rogers (due to throttling, and price).
Bell works fine, but costs too much. Plus they force those $hitty wireless-router-modem all-in-one crap on you.

30kb/sec is the throttling... not quite the 200kb/s i was getting last year, or the 600kb/s-1mb/s I was getting in Budapest while on a 4 month exchange. Even rogers was giving 300kb/s before they started all their throttling 2 years ago. Seriously... when eastern europe is getting better internet (value/cost/service) service than we are... someone is ****ing us over for profit.

wow...I'm trying to read post #1...but the ALL CAPS are blinding.
btw, a poll would be nice. You may also want (to ensure factual evidence is considered only) to request that people who have used MORE THAN one of the companies for a reasonable period are contributing.
One individual who has been with one company forever, saying "I love XXXX" doesn't really say anything....or does it

Bell also throttles bittorrent but only at peak times it seems.

30kb is UPLOADING... if you get 1mb UPLOADING... then... well, how much are you paying again? :D

Teksavvy services the area where Bell provides DSL servie only, the same as Acanac.
If you are referring to BC, then update the title of the thread to reflect that.
And use http://www.canadianisp.com/ to check for BC specific isps.

I personally find Bell to be good, but only because I'm unthrottled, have unlimited bandwidth and get a $10 discount. :cheesygri
Otherwise, I would recommend Teksavvy, since I only heard good things about it.

i'm on bell and i don't think i'm throttled at all... i get 400kb/s download all the time... so i'm just wondering if rogers is still throttling...
