My office has a new computer and I noticed something funky with the default setup, just wondering if it's normal.
Here'r the specs.

Asus P5GC-MX/1333
Intel E6550 (1333MHz FSB @ 2.33GHz)
DDR2-5400 1Gbx1 RAM

at default, the CPU is only running at 1066MHz FSB, 1.86GHz. I had to go into BIOS to force the CPU to run at 333FSB (x4=1333).... I'm just wondering why won't the default setting recognize that it's should be 1333MHz FSB?
Thanks.

According to the Asus site:
*1333 / 1066 / 800 / 533 MHz
(*1333 MHz when overclocking)

Technically the board only supports 1066FSB with default settings - you are actually overclocking the FSB to get 1333FSB.

It sounds to me like the chipset only supported 1066, but a chipset revision allowed for better overclocking, so though it's lacking official support, they still put 1333 in the model no. Bastards.
