Well, i have the 'standard' macbook with 2.0 GHz Intel processor, 80 GB, and added 4 GB of ram [price difference between 2 GB and 4 GB was not much during boxing week]. I got it during boxing day for $1099 + tax at the time, came up to $1253. This was at future shop btw, but i believe now their price is back at $1199 + tax.

Now how i like it. First, i am most impressed with the battery life. Up to date, it managed to stay alive for up to approx. 6 hours during my lectures all in one day.

Maybe by the third day i had, i thought to myself, i don't have enough HD space . I remember seeing probably 50 to 60 GB left when i finish got it and installed a few applications like firebox, google earth, etc. After a clean install, i managed to get back up to 60 GB - alot of hard drive spaces are wasted on printer drivers, trial programs and languages. Now that i look back, i no longer feel that hard drive space is really much of a problem.

I've had my MacBook for about 9 months. Very happy with it. Depending on your needs, you may want to look into upgrading the memory and hard drive. Apple provides directions on how to do this on their website (under support). "PC" RAM that meets the specifications would work just fine. There is a great deal with the 250 GB external WD at Costco. Pop open the case and swap hard drives.
