I bought a home theatre system Panasonic SCHT40 and the surround sound system rear speakers the wires are too short to run through the ceiling. What is the best speaker wire to attach to the actual speaker wires I have now so that not much if any sound is lost.
I see Monster has wires but not sure if they are good or would do the trick if I twist them with the other wires.

Check out the CL2 rated (for In-wall installation) kind ... http://www.monoprice.com/products/search.asp?spcDB=10239&spcWord=Speaker+Wire&keyword=speaker%20wire
You don't need Monster, especially it potentially costs more than your HT :!:

Just get something 16 guage or better. You dont need anything more than that. CC or Futureshop, or better yet bulk if you can.
Don't buy Monster anything. Name brand stuff is ridiculously overpriced and doesn't provide any better quality. Don't get sucked in by the marketing hype.
You'll inevitably get that camp of people who try to rationalize buying over-priced wire with the argument, "You spend thousands of dollars on your a/v equipment. Why would you skimp on wiring?"
Don't listen to them. Just go buy some bulk 16 guage wire and be happy. It's all you need.

check home depot. RCA branded 16GW wires are very cheap. You can even get them for in wall installation as well. Cheaper than ordering online especially if your HT system isn't going to take advantage of the more expensive wires. However, if this is a pre-wire situation and you want the wires to last as your system grows, then I would spend more money and get some higher quality ones, bluejeancables.com has a very nice selection and reliable shipping to Canada.

Totally agree with Willy - I just bought a 100' roll of exactly that for my Z5500s.

Those are the wires usually come bundled with HTIB .... Are your speakers already 'connecting' to the wires (ie. cannot be removed) ??

They are already attached to my speakers and it is a HTIB the Panasonic
SCHT40 series

Your best bet would be if you can open the speakers up and replace the current wire. That way you don't have to worry about connecting the two parts together. As an added bonus, there will be less loss since you would be replacing the kite string (22 g) with actual wire!

Hi,
I had the exact same system as you. I used the 22 AWG for a couple of months until I did some research and found out that the thicker the wire, especially with these low impendence speakers, the better the sound. I got 16 gauge wire and there is a VERY noticeable difference. Especially in the surround speakers. It really depends how far away the speakers are from the amp as to what gauge you should get. But I know with this system it's difficult to put thicker gauge in the spring clips. so if you are running less then 40 ft to the surround speakers I suggest 16 gauge. Again YOU WILL NOTICE A DIFFERENCE!!!

You can actually buy pin adapters for the wires to fit into the spring clips...
