Instead of buying gifts she doesn't need, I have made it a tradition to bring my niece to a special event/activity for her birthday. One year, she went to do pottery, and last year, I took her to Disney on Ice. This year, she will be turning 9. Does anyone have any suggestions? The only thing I can think of is Medieval Times. Thanks.

Casa Loma has some special events throughout the year.
My niece loved it at christmas time (she is 11)

Hannah Montana has a new 3D movie in the theatres...if she's 9, I'm sure she's into Hannah Montana!
What about a kids cooking class (e.g., Loblaws)?

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Unfortunately, she's already been to Casa Loma and she is not into Hannah Montana. Last year I asked her about cooking classes and she said no, but it can't hurt to ask again this year. Are there any other types of shows (i.e., musical productions) that might be suitable for her?

This sounds like a great deal and I do know kids her age who really enjoyed We Will Rock You.

Thanks for all the theatre ideas. They led me to find out about kiddingaroundtoronto.com. From there, I found out about The Adventures of Flat Stanley and that is the show she would like to see. Thanks, everyone!
