Okay, first and foremost I have tried getting into an Electrical Apprenticeship, I have tried for about a year and no one seems to ever be hiring and any college I have looked at and called says "You have to find someone who is willing to hire you as an apprentice" bla bla bla.
Now, I have moved on and since I love cars so much (but hate my SH*T Chrysler Neon (2000) LX), I have decided to get in to an Auto Mechanic apprentice program. I have found one at Centennial College in Scarborough and read that the first 8 months are in school, second 8 months are working and the final 8 months is in school.
In your opinion... is this a good choice? I really love working with my hands and fixing things and well, to be honest I have been doing mod chip installations all the way from ps2s to the current xbox360 and wii consoles and it gives me great satisfaction to receive a good compliment from a customer. apart from just mod chips I have done MANY MANY repairs, countless numbers of repairs and everyone has always been happy. It gives me a sense of self satisfaction to have someone happy with my work which is also why I want to get into this program.
SECONDLY. My car is crap, its a 2000 neon lx and im getting problem after problem after problem with it, about $1700 worth of repairs. Should I sell the whole stereo out of it (deck is a jvc dvd deck and the subs + amp are made by JL Audio) and put the towards another car? I don't think I can afford another car even if I go part time @ my work (I currently work @ my workplace for $16.35/hr).
Do insurance companies give you lower rates at all if you are in school? I was asked this before by my insurance provider and I said no, and then I asked if they could just say yes but they said I would have to show proof from the college or university (im with belairdirect)...
thankyou for ANY advice... I have started to pay off my visa since christmas (damn marketing and the needs of people :@) and plan to have it paid off by the middle/end of february then putting $500 off to the side of every paycheck I receive towards going to school and getting another car...
anyways. any advice on the career / school idea, the car idea is greatly appreciated. im 21 and have decided that I have to go to school, I can't continue working in a warehouse anymore... I can for now but not the rest of my life...
