It's $100 cheaper than Futureshop and Bestbuy.

Pretty much every other weekend in Nov / Dec this TV was $699 at FS / BB. Could be had during Friends and Family nights for $630.
I wouldn't be surprised if this goes to $599 once the 2008 models start coming out...

So I take it the Samsung 32" is a better deal for $749?

Does your friend live in Edmonton? Does he/she work at a retail store?

Unfortunately, I wasn't looking for a TV on Boxing Day... I need one now, though... :(

The Samsung 32 is $999 at Bestbuy, so I guess I could get it for $724 after price protection... Is that the best price I could get on it?

The Samsung LNT3242H was top rated with a score of 78 along with three other 32 inch 720p LCD TVs in Consumer Reports (Dec 2007). The other three models with the same score of 78 (but are much more expensive) are: Sony KDL32XBR4, Sony KDL32S3000 and Panasonic TC32LX700. The Toshiba 32HL67 (more features than 32HL57) was fifth with a score of 73. All five were recommended by CR.
Both Sony's were judged to have the finest detail and great colour (the more expensive model has more features and connections). The Panasonic has the widest viewing angle of any LCD TV. The Samsung had great colour. The Toshiba had excellent detail.

had this tv and it was great..... if you look into the specs more you will see that it does not have a built in HDTuner which at this time was a deal breaker for me. Returned it for a Aquos and havent looked back since.

I am looking for same sort of TV as well. The vision had it for $470 but only limited quantities but I am sure it will be sold for $549 or 599 in next few weeks as 2008 models come out. I think $699 is regular retail price. I do not think you can go wrong with SONY, Samsung or toshiba.
Wait few weeks if u can and let me know if u come across hot deal on 32 inch tvs.
