Looking for a DIVX / DVD player under 30$ I don't know if the .mkv format will take off or not so for now a simple .AVI player will make do for my second TV set.

Wow! I didn't think you can get a brand name DiVX player for under $30 but Hugh Jass provided me wrong... Granted, it is a Philips player and it is refurbished... Thanks guys!

Philips are great when it comes to playing divx etc. I'd spend the extra $20 or so and get a new Philips, but the OP did say it was for a 2nd TV so probably not used that much.

Thank all of you for the legwork.
This unit looks about right. Now if it does DIVX as some of the reviewers suggest then I'll be set.
I think availability in the GVRD is important. Since Factory Direct has no stores here I'd be out 15$ for shipping, which is a deal breaker.
