Female Civil Engineer looking for job

My Fiance just completed Civil Engineering & Coop degree in Structural field and she is moving to ottawa soon. She is having hard time finding a job for some reason. Worse case she is ok to find a job in toronto i or surrounding areas. Does any civil engineer out there willing to provide any hints for us ?

definately hit up all the gov't sites. i do beleive the ttc had a few jr engineering positions open awhile back as my brother was looking for new work. if she still has no luck try to get a headhunter as that's what my bro ended up doing and he got a great job working for an oil company in calgary. -sg

There is a real shortage of consulting engineers right now and consultants are in dire need of people.

I believe TTC is having a hiring freeze right now.

As for your fiance, it's not that there is a shortage of job, it's more or less related to the field she's in. Structural companies are pretty picky on who they hire. They look for people with high grades and/or look for people who would go for their Masters/Doctorial degrees.

If she doesn't have any good results from looking, ask her to contact a head hunter (who would gladly help) or her school (they generally have employers looking for new grads). Good luck ;)
