It began strong, however today it's quite warm (12C). According to predictions, we were to expect a harsh winter. Can't see that right now.
We still have February though.

Been weird up here...went from -40 to -10 to -35 to -20 to -30...all in the last five days or so.
I would prefer it to just stay cold...-40 is fine...any warmer than that and I tend to sweat too much on my walks with the mutt.

Again we are dissapointed with Environment Canada lies and false predictions
I was expecting a harsh winter too, and wanted it badly, especially snowstorms.
Anyways, from experience I know that after balmy January weather suddenly right after comes a cold snap in the -20's range..... just remember my words.

So I guess December does not count? We got enough snow then for one year.

I've got the American news on right now and it's currently a balmy 62F in Windsor...AND we're under a tornadoe watch....in January! Could stay like this till spring as far as I'm concerned.

Tornadoes north of the hemisphere? I thought that was exclusive to southerners.

really i don't think you all want a warm january...which leads to everything melting...meaning water levels rising...BAD thing

Yes we even have a flood watch today because of the warm weather and Detroit is flooded! All north of the hemisphere too! LOL
Yes rosebud, we've had tornadoes here before, a really bad one that took down an arena and killed about 10 people a couple decades ago. We don't get through a summer without a few watches and warnings. You know you really should learn a little more about the country you live in.

For me it signals early moderate effects of global warming. My concern will be that the mild winters will feed into severely hot & humid summers.

there was one in lindsay about 8 years ago...my cat was outside in it and my parents wouldn't let me go out (he was under the cottage, so turned out to be ok). lots of damage to trees and smaller buildings (sheds, etc) the next day.
