Hey all,
I got an offer a position in Rogers as Tech support for Home phone service. The do offer some perks and benefits, but does anyone know what the position is like? How many calls, do I get my own cubical, is it high pressure job, or laid back?
Anything suggestions will help to decide whether to take it or not.

My friend use to work at Rogers at tech support on the Internet side. Generally any phone tech support sucks. As a level one tech, it can sucks because you take all the crap from customers because they calling you because they have a problem and many times they aren't happy about it. As a level one many times you don't have the power to do anything. You log the problem and then forward it to a level two or someone who can fix it. I dont know how many calls they get but my friend said they record how long you are on the phone with each customer to get stats.
My friend gave me a tour there once and it looked like everyone in the call centre has their own cubicle but that was in the old building. Things may have changed, that was years ago but when they were at Jarvis and Bloor, now they in the old Nortel building in Brampton, he is a admin now there.
If you have no other offers, I would take it, but continue to look for a better job.

Everyone is moved out to Brampton now, if your getting an offer to work at Donmills and Yorkmills area its a pretty good team to join otherwise if your out in Brampton its not a lot of fun at all.
From what I was told by friends who got transferred up there they lost the "family" feel and its like one huge crowd of people working together you don't know anyone around you anymore.
They do record stats and time logs thats for sure. You take all the BS and should you take the Job the nighttime shift is often best not a lot of Irate customers to deal with.
