buying tobacco online from the USA.
Is this legal?

Heavy duty and taxes are not an issue.

While on the topic... Does anyone know any good cigar/smoke shops in Toronto?

Seeing as it's illegal to even advertise that you sell cigars in Ontario, I doubt you'll find a legitimate website where you can buy them. We have lots of cigar stores in Windsor, a pretty large market here cuz the Americans can't get the good Cuban ones.

As for buying cigarettes online, sorry I wouldn't know, but I'd be pretty surprised if you could.

Sorry UP, I was referring to signage and in-store advertising.

cigarbid.com

You'll need to ship it to an american address and either drive down to pick it up or have them ship it up to you. Great deals for cigars on that website

Yeah, you can't ship alcohol over the boarder, so I doubt you can ship tobacco. Different story if you carry it across.

Yes you can order and get tobacco products shipped to Canada, just be prepared to pay the hefty taxes.

Maybe UP's buying them as gifts for others?

Really depends on the person checking your package.

I came back from Point Roberts a couple of days ago from picking up my package from cigarbid and the guy didn't tax me. I drove up to customs and he asked me where I lived, how long I was gone for, and what I was bringing back. I told him I was bringing back cigars and some other small items and showed him my invoice and he told me to have a nice day. :)

If they're only charging $20-30 a carton, they're probably native cigs from the reservation = no taxes but also = illegal to sell or possess unless you're native.

I read on some cig site, that when they ship them they dont ship a full carton or something like that to avoid duties. And they also mentioned if you did get charged duty you can just deny the item and have it returned to the seller. Will try to find some of that info again.

not really. You can get a carton from the US for the price of 3-4 packs here.

What I do wonder is why you're always looking for some scheme to make $2 for 100 hours of work.

has anyone tried this? there are many online stores on indian reserves and such that ship to canada thus making the cost MUCH cheaper than buying in stores. What are the laws regarding this? anyone have any experience?
