Southwest does not seem to have any deals from buffalo or detroit to northwest US such as seattle..Anyone have any suggestions for summer 2008?
I would love to fly my family of 5 from toronto to vancouver or calgary but the flights are crazy in July and August..can't go another time as wife is a teacher...
I want the kids to experience the mountains and the west coast but does not have to be in Canada.

Keep checking the US airlines and travel sites. When we went 5 years ago (Buf-Seattle) IIRC we booked our tickets in Feb or March for the end of June trip. Rates fluctuate like crazy, even several times per day. DOn't foget that the price you see is what you pay in the US, everything included, unlike in Canada where taxes and surcharges can easily double the price of a ticket.

johnsa Look at Rochester, NY.
$320 Delta ROC to SEA - Sun, July 6, return Tue, July 15
4:45p-10:44p; 6:00a-5:00p.
July 13 - 22 and July 21 - 30 same price. Other dates in July with a 9 or 10 day return are priced at $350 or $370.
For comparison, WestJet lowest rate is $850 July 1 - 10 from Toronto - Van. for many dates in July.
Possible savings - $850 - 320 = 530 x 5 = $2650. Gees, almost enough to buy 2 more sets of return tickets. Parking (economy for RFD) is $4/day. All amounts in US $'s and tax/fees included.
Yes, you have to get to Rochester and from Seattle to Vancouver and vice versa.

Or in our case enough to make it a 10 day trip vs. a 5 day trip! ;)

I agree - keep checking into SWA and other US airlines. We made this trip last summer with our family of 6 and flew from Detroit into Seattle. I paid $954.60 US for 6 one way flights. We took the Robert Q shuttle to Detroit (you will see why further down) from London. Flew from Detroit to Seattle via Chicago.
We then took the Amtrak train into Vancouver for $120 total for all 6 of us and then the trip got expensive LOL!
We rented a van in Vancouver ($550) and drove to Calgary because we were going to the Stampede. We then flew back to London on WestJet for $1900.
This was a lot of planning and researching and looking for the best price in airfare. And I thought $465/person was not bad for airfare.
Canadian Airlines are a rip off! My daughter flew to Saskatoon from London last summer also and the best fare we could get was $650! Crazy...fly through the US if at all possible.
