Ride any major transit system, you'll find all sorts of people passed out any all hours of the day..

Becareful if you are a female falling asleep on the subway in Japan! I saw this documentary where the woman who fell asleep was molested by all these passengers on the subway! She seemed to enjoy though which was kinda strange....

My dad worked in Korea many years ago and he said that employees in his office have mastered the art of sleeping at their desk with their eyes open.

considering the Japanese work like 23 hrs out of the day, I am not surprised they tend to fall asleep anywhere..............they must be so tired !

What so special? And, it is not just Japanese. When I was in high school in Hong Kong, my transit time was about 1.5 hours one way. I could sleep standing up.

lol, but seriously i've heard of this too. All you have to do is ask them to stop.

and DAMN those train seats look comfortable. My wide north american ass has to sit on those formed fake red velvet POS seats on the TTC and they get big comfy ass bench seats? I'm moving to Japan.

I believe you were watching a subway rape AV, not a documentary. It's actually an official genre in JAV.

Man., I can only imagine the PAIN these people will be in after a day or two or three., when the muscles and tendons and anything else clues in.

I slept in a bad position on my moms lazboy once, and 3 days later, for about FOUR DAYS, I had some serious deep intercostal muscle bruising that was a biiiiiiiiiiiiiatch to bare....Oiiiiiiiiii

Just like doing exercise. If you have not done that regularly, you will have pain. ;)

on a side note, i saw an Indian middle-aged man doing that on the subway like a few months ago. the funny part is that it was rush hour and he managed to take up 4 seats (2 horizontal and 2 adjacent) while everyone was standing.
