Hi- I am flying to India and found that I could have a couple days in Milan for the same price if I fly via Alitalia... the only thing is that they are in the midst of buyout talks with AF-KLM... is it too risky to fly with them in March?
Anyone out there have any thoughts?

It's hard to say...I mean you can't determine whether you fly or not if something that even hasn't happened. I'm sure if the airlines due merge, an Airline such as Alitalia with Air France and KLM buying them out would surely accomodate their ticket holders and honour the tickets regardless.

I think when I flew with Alitalia back in 2004 I was worried they were going to go bankrupt before we flew.
In any case, Alitalia sold two of their slots at Heathrow a few eeks ago to an American airline, I believe for either 60 million dollars or euros, and I that should keep them in business for about two months. Apparently they loose about 2.5 million a day.
In any case, when I flew to and from Italy via Alitalia, it was my first international flight and I wasn't too impressed. I'll be flying with Qantas in a few weeks so I'll finally have something to compare it to.
