View Full Version : Timing to Las Vegas airport?

Hi all,
I was wondering if you thought this was a feasible option.
I have a 23:25 flight leaving Las Vegas.
I was thinking of catching Spamalot at 20:00, which I think finishes at 21:30 (90 mins without intermission) at the Wynn.
Will ~2 hours give me enough time to make it from The Wynn to the LAS airport to catch my flight back to Canada?
Let me know, I have yet to purchase the Spamalot tickets.
Thanks!

While I don't know much about Las Vegas but I think its pushing it. I mean if the flight departs on time they are going to start boarding around 23:10 or 23h.
That gives you 1.5 hours to get to the airport, check in, clear security and get to your plane.
I suppose it really depends how far the airport is, but I wouldn't risk it. PERHAPS if you don't have any checked luggage and print out your boarding pass, but if you have check luggage forget about it (I think most airlines want 60 minutes prior to departure to get your bag on the plane). At 23h its probably the last flight to Toronto for the night, which means you miss that flight, your sleeping in the airport.

If you have no luggage to check and check in online I would say an hour and half is more than enough time.

Vegas airport is not even 30 mins from the airport.
If it's possible you should see if you can go in the day and check in and then go catch the show that way when you go back all you gotta do is clear security.

If you are on Air Canada or WestJet you should be fine. They both fly out of Terminal 2 which is never busy. On a US airline it would be a bit tighter but I still think you would be able to make it without much trouble.
Make sure that you know where the Wynn taxi stand is before going to the show. Then run over there when it is done. If you think the line is too long then go chat with the taxi attendant and slip him a twenty to see if he can help. You could also go find the Tower taxi stand because there is rarely a line there (less cabs though and it is on the other side of the hotel from the theatre).
Like others have mentioned, check in online and print off your boarding pass beforehand.

Just better hope there isn't any traffic problem though. This is really cutting it close, if there are any problems with security, traffic or checkin, the OP will be SOL.

In a normal situation, that is plenty of time.
But why take a risk? Next thing you'll do is post here that you got screwed out of your flight because you were 3 minutes late at the gate.
I say forget the show.

I would side with the "not worth the risk" crowd. I would rather extend my hotel stay another night if I thought it was that important. If you want to gamble there are plenty of other places to do that in LV rather than at the airport. It would also be tough for me to enjoy a show knowing that I'm going to have no time to spare to catch my flight later.

I wouldn't risk missing my flight either.
In post 911 era, you should really be at the airport minimum 2 hours before your scheduled departure... You just never know

If everything goes okay you will have time to spare. I would suggest that you check in online from your hotel. The ride in a taxi is less than 15 minutes. Plus, if you are flying Air Canada, they will be late anyway.

Hi all,
Thank you for your advice. I agreed that there were better ways to gamble at Las Vegas then with my return flight. I ended up skipping Spamalot, but caught the 3pm Ronn Lucas (ventriloquist) show instead at the Luxor. Much easier on the budget and the nerves!
Thankfully I was able to check-in online (for free too) at my hotel. It was quite painless but arrived early at the airport. It turned out there were 5 flights leaving from terminal 2, all within 5 minutes of each other. I am sure it would've been more busy through security if we had waited.

Hey, was that flight AC594 that you were on? The one that left Sunday a little late? Because I left Vegas on that flight and customs in Toronto was a real pain! The longest lineup I've ever seen at 7 on a Monday morning. I ended up being a good hour late for work because of it.

Yup, that must have been the same.. I was also amazed at the line-ups so early in the morning!
