Cash Job or very casual/part time job

Just because you receive 'cash' instead of a proper paycheque does not relieve you of the obligation to report the entirety of your earned income on an income tax return. Nor does it relieve the employer from the obligation to remit CPP/EI.

A "cash" job won't necessarily give you Workers Compensation/Injury insurance either. So if you injure yourself on the job -- you may very well be facing an uphill battle to be compensated.

The question, I guess you need to ask yourself is whether you really want to work for an employer that has no problem breaking the law as a matter of routine business.

Its not all bad. I've worked for a telemarketing company b4 that did business like this (no paperwork or anything, walk-in and get a job lol). Not that I was looking for this kind of arrangement but it was pretty ok in terms of the office environment.

Downside was they could let you go at any point really though.

Anyway to the OP and the others... try looking for something in the newspaper like: "Easy phone work! Call now!" or the ones that specifically state they pay cash (most of em seem to be maid services though) and ask for 'details'.

Again, though, that telemarketing company probably recorded your wages as an expense to offset income. Meaning when they are audited, CRA will look at all 'contractor' pay (which is what they likely classified you as), and then cross reference that with the listed individuals tax returns.

This happens all the time. My dad's trucking company has an employee who my dad paid in cash for years, as the guy was a lowlife and had no bank account to cash cheques. My dad wasn't going to lose $50k per year in tax deduction, though, he claimed it. CRA eventually audited the company, cross referenced, and discovered that the guy hadn't even filed a tax return in ten years! He owes CRA 7 years of taxes, plus penalties and interest. My dad wasn't in any trouble at all, he did everything by the book, it isn't his responsibility to ensure his employees pay their taxes.

so restaurants etc? bars? i don't want to be a tutor anything else?
