Hi guys,

I have decided that I would like to become a fashion designer...I insist on not going to school at this point.

I can make a few sketches, right now I am interested in designing ties. And from there, I would like to possibly start a brand-name. Kind of like Ralph Lauren did.

I actually found out I am a relatively good sketcher/artist, I do think I can design unique in interesting outfits. But I do not want to make my brand-name be one of those funky companies who make clothing out of latex.

I DO THINK I have what it takes to succeed, I am not in for the money, nor the fame. But I think I am different from many people, and I have what it takes to start more than a brand -- but a lifestyle.

How do I get discovered? Where do I start? By the way, I do not plan on actually pursuing this for atleast 5-6 years though.

Find a sweat shop and start as an apprentice.

If your designs are good, you will be discouvered in no time.

What do you want? You already indicated you don't want to go to school so go get a job.

Do you want someone to say "go talk to Fred on 7th?"

http://www.askandyaboutclothes.com/

both are forums that deal with clothing and fashion, and have people on there who are actually in the clothing business.
