Toronto: Where to stay for a week?

Was looking for advice on where to stay in Toronto.

About 6 days

Location should be near the core or in the core of downtown.

Any cheap/good hotels/hostels?

I was looking around for a student residence or short term apartment rental or something.

Anything more economical then a hotel for 6 days?

hostelworld.com (theres a fee unless your a regular customer) or hostelbookers.com which is free.

read the reviews, they usually do a good job of pointing out any minor frustrations that come with living there (too hot/too cold, dirt showers etc)

I have used hostelworld in a number of countries, I would recommend this site also. You should look at Tripwiser as well if you are looking at things to do... just some suggestions - have fun!!!
