Hi all,

I was looking at my gf's sunfire and want to replace her spark plugs, I just want to verify her location of them. Are they on top of the engine under the ignition coil housing? The design of her car is very different from mine, I don't even see any wires.

I am also looking to top up the power steering fluid, it looks like it's empty, assuming that the black box beside the engine with the little steering wheel like image is correct, can anyone verify that it's the correct location? and how much is it supposed to have in it? My car is super straight forward, the lid says "power steering" and has a min max lines on them, and it's clear! Thanks in advance.

For the power steering, the cap on the ps fluid reservoir should have a little dipstick with the same min/max level. As for the spark plugs, they have individual coil packs for each spark plug, which means no wires whatsoever.

Can anyone confirm what I am looking for in regards to the power steering fluid box on the 2003 Pontiac Sunfire (AT)? Is it the location and image I described?

Just for anyone else's future reference: GuiltySpark is dead on, with it being the little black box on the driver's side of the engine, there is a tiny dipstick attached to the lid.

Sparkplugs aren't so bad on the sunfire, just weird that there are no wires, just a plate that comes off and is attached to all 4 spark plugs.

Glad I could help ;)

Those 2.2 eco's are one of GM's best motors in years, should treat you well.

I agree to that. Ecotecs are pretty reliable engines. Even the older 2.2 treated me well except the dreaded headgasket ($500).

But Ecotecs are nice engines for gas economy and reliability.

^Don't forget a slew of earlier 2.2L Ecotecs had problems with timing chains... Yes they would break and yes they are interference engines :( But I'm pretty sure they've since rectified that problem.

Earlier? As in what model years?

The old 2.2 ohv's were noisy, ate oil, gutless and rough. But if it wasn't a bad head gasket candidate the damn things would go forever, parts are cheap and plentiful. I've also heard that about a few '02 eco's (the timing chain)
