I definitely haven't seen that flyer, but your scan won't help anyone unless it has the dates that the pricing is in effect for. I can't see the dates the sale is active for on that scan...

Thats the most I can cover due to the scanner here. Might have to find an ad from the herald online.

It says at the end of the description 164 only chainwide. How man Visions stores are there?

A clear full scan of that flyer would be amazing. Interested in the Sony Lappy price as well.

Is this a Calgary only deal or Nationwide? I called the local (Winnipeg Visions) and they aren't showing that price...

Do you think they will match their own price if I show them the scan? :?:

thanks bought it, I was going to wait till boxing day but boxing day came early for this tv and even if they do its price protected from visions even on boxing day(thats what they told me, also said it won't go cheaper on boxing day anyway). They may not show the price at visions but i wasn't waiting went down there and just bought it for their sale price. The managers know but he also knows the flyer isn't out here yet so he hasn't advertised the sale price. I was seriously considering it at FS for 1099. Nice tv.

I bought one at the 32nd Ave NE location in Calgary at around 10:30am. They had one more that I saw, but I didn't ask if they had any more in the back.

I decided not to bother trying the PM since it was a limited quantity sale and I have never had much luck PM'ing those.

Awesome deal!

Thanks OP!!!

Which Winnipeg location was it? I'm planning a boxing day purchase, and I've been wondering about the price protection.

720P - cold in here...........

Wow, it took until the 2nd page for someone to bring this up. At first I thought it was a bot doing it all the time on the first page of every TV thread, but I guess not.

pm'd at FS at Sunridge (calgary) for 868.99. Best Buy wouldn't do it with limited quantities. The guy at FS didn't even call down to Visions. Great deal! not to concerned about the 720P.

IMHO around 50" and larger is where you need 1080P. At 42" 720P is fine unless you want to use it for gaming or hooked to a HTPC.

With my 62" 1080P TV, the image does not appear pixellated until I am around 5' away, which is too close since much of the image is in my peripheral vision (also IMHO!) .

So, if you plan on sitting less than 6' away from a 42" TV, you are probably better off with a 1080P, otherwise 720P is fine for most anything.

The home theatre guides recommend being no closer than twice the diagonal size of the screen, so with 42" they recommend no closer than 7'. With an HD source you can maybe get away with 1.5X (around 5') with a 1080P TV. Of course this is for watching movies / TV. For gaming you can be quite a bit closer, but much of the screen will be in your peripheral vision...

I will try out the TV tonight! :)

Yeah I was hestitant about the 720p but the price and some reviews like this from FS:"it doesnt say at this site but this tv can display 1080p via hdmi connection but the only bad thing is it doesnt have a hdtv tuner."
seemd to coincide what it said on the tv display in store as well at visions.
Since I'm coming off a htpc should be nice

Currently you don't need an HD tuner through much of Canada. No HD broadcasts (that I am aware of) in Calgary. Of course, a digital ATSC tuner would be good to future-proof the unit, but at the price it set is, I am very happy with the deal!

If you are using it with cable, you must have their box anyway, since none of the Canadian cable providers are supporting cable-card.

Normally I look for a decent number of HDMI and PC inputs and this one seems pretty well equipped (two HDMI, VGA, two component, etc).

Great to hear some people successfully PM'ed it!

This tv (I have 3 of the 37" models) can accept a 1080p signal, but it DISPLAYS it's native resolution, which is 1366x768. As noted above, unless you're using it for a computer monitor, or are sitting on top of it, you won't notice any difference in resolution between this and a 1080p unit. It's a great deal on a pretty good name brand tv. At least you won't have to worry about finding service for it if you have any problems in warranty or out.

Is this PMable within Ontario/GTA? Anyone succeed in doing so?
