This is a repost by the way, see "Zellers and Walmart Deals", but good effort nonetheless. I have the same source. Also I inquired about the PS3 video games.

I didn't know there was different guitars for GH1, 2 & 3

I think there is. I've seen some guitars up for sale that says for Guitar Hero 1 & 2. I asked the sales people, they said those aren't compatible for 3 apparently.

brand?

It'll be one of their "house brands" however, if they're like the ones I've seen in the store before, they looked decent with a 2.0-2.5 inch screen and $60 for a 4GB MP4 player is pretty sweet. Aside from the Verbatim discs at TSCC it's one of my few confirmed "must check out" deals this boxing day.

yeah that's what i figured...

most of the time they don't offer good deals for brand name electronics.... usually it's the housebrands or the "no-name" brands...

exception might be when they have a clearance.

On the bright side most of their no name stuff is actually quite good. I'd risk $60 for a 4GB MP4 player and think it was a pretty good bet....on the other hand one of those $900 1080P Daenyx TV's....I'm not too sure if that'd be a good bet (http://www.walmart.ca/wps-portal/storelocator/Canada-About_Walmart.jsp?content=termsofuse) ;)

Wow! Thanks man. The 2" screen is a bit of a downer but that's certainly made up by the open SD slot. I'm assuming it's not SDHC compatable at this price however going up to a 6 GB MP4 player certainly makes it a good deal if the codec they use for video playback is alright (aka no amv/mtv stuff)

I was nosy this afternoon and when in to get a price check on their SOYO 22" Widescreen (wasn't noted on flyer) LCD monitor for the regular price. Turns out it was already selling for ~$200 which is the same price as the flyer. I suppected that is true for other "special purchase" items as well but didn't comfire since I didn't needed anything else.

Anyway, glad that I didn't have to line-up in the cold and given it is a "Widescreen" makes this deal HOT. :cheesygri

Same here. Blu-ray and HDDVD but chances are its going to be the same crap titles that are "on sale" at futureshop right now. Other then 300 they seem to all be the same ones that are always 19.99. At least at 2\30 you would still be saving a bit. Not sure its going to be worth the pushing and shoving to find out though.

I think there is. I've seen some guitars up for sale that says for Guitar Hero 1 & 2. I asked the sales people, they said those aren't compatible for 3 apparently.

Why wouldn't a guitar for guitar hero 2 be compatible with guitar hero 3?

I, too, am wondering this. It would seem cruel to the workers, but that's what the site suggests. It says the store is 24/7 until the 31st, while only being officially closed on the 25th and Jan. 1st.

Sooo....that would technically mean I could walk in at 12:01 AM tonight. I'm assuming it'll actually open at 6, but who knows?

I'm sure there is. I wonder if the company has ever heard of the internet, or a phone message stating the hours, so I don't have to drive out there just to find out what time they open. :)

I think they open at the same time they normally open for the particular store. i.e. if they used to open at 7am, they will open at 7am on the boxing day and then 7/24 until the end of Dec. It is what I heard from the answering machine from my local store.

didn't check online, but last time there was news about 24/7 store hrs was in the hot deals forum and an RFDer claimed to have recv'd that ad in the mailbox. i too recv'd it but i don't remember the details.

ok... so now, if what the site says is true, um... that means they're open on christmas day (25th) ?? ... that would in turn mean that some WM stores have already started the BD sale as of now.
i somehow doubt that b/c most retailers are supposedly closed for the entire day today.

just came back from walmart in Thornhill. got there at about 7:10am and the store was empty. lots of selection on the dvds (2 for $30 BR movies!) but going very quickly as more people were arriving, particularly the tv box sets. the ps2 should sell fairly steady as will the guitar. i grabbed my batteries and windshield fluid and got out in 5min lol.

Just got back from the Mountain Plaza Walmart in Hamilton. The 2 for $30 blu-ray disc was absolute garbage! There was no sepeprate rack or bin to indicate the 2 for $30 and it was hit or miss on what blu-ray movies were actually on sale. When I got to the front cashier there was a stack of at least a dozen blu-ray movies that people obviosly didn't since they weren't scanning in properly. Overall it was a wast of time if people were going for the blu-ray movies...

went to walmart on sheppard and kennedy for the bluray.

it's not as it seems in the ad.

Only a very select few are 2/$30.

The 6 in the ad and the only other two that i could find were.
Bridge to Terabithia
The Wild

They had Wild Hogs and Pirates 2 there that I took but left on some LCDs TV.

Some guy was arguing with the assistant manager there about the bluray ad and she wouldn't budge.
She said it is storewide and it doesn't say ALL blurays are 2/$30...
Even though it doesn't say selected titles, she said that what it is meant in the ad.
She would not budge at all and offered to scan all the bluray to find which are $15...

With the 2.10 firmware update (you can download online or wirelessly through your home network), the PS3 can also play DiVX/WMA!!! This apparently makes it the only Blu-Ray or HD-DVD player that can do this (according to engadget). $50 off is a great deal, I also bought the remote control at the same time. Looks nice too! Hey there, I was there this morning in that crazy line. Managed to snag the Purex for 2 for $7 and almost bought that vtech cordless phone with answering machine but it had no security codes on the phone, so easy to hack ...didn't want the guitar as I don't own the game. Those 42 inch LCD 1080p TV's just sat there for 45 minutes, NO one bought a single one when I left the store...I guess too new of a brand/no reviews not worth the risk, not to mention no ATSC tuner.

Yeah the electronics section is very crowded especially the game section because the games are locked so everyone has to wait for someone to open it.

The door opening event is pretty messed up, because they opened the door where there was no line up before the one where people lined up. So a lot of people waiting on the side just rushed in. I was not really affected because I was in the first 15 people or so. But it does irks me that people who did not line up got in before those who did.

I was so sure i can get the f1 but they don't have it. I was very mad/disappointed that the walmart advertised something that they don't have. But then there is nothing I can do, and they probably did not do it on purpose.

So I got out and went quickly to the nearby Best Best to get the VX Revolution, which is not even for myself.

So I ended up with nothing for boxing day. (Not that it is crappy this year; it is just there is nothing I really need/want)

zoro69

Everyone who didn't get the F1 because of oos at open send a comment through their webpage. Last year I dd that when our store hid the entire bin in the back rock for the second year in a row, and eventually got a call offering o let me go through it and buy what I want at the half price. Nothing in the bin a deal this year other then a few 3 packs that didn't scan half off.

their might be decent 18.93 games in the cases that scan half price, ours is a mess with lots of games having no prices on them. The older guy that looked after the entertainment section for years here disappeared a year or so ago and its been all down hill ever since.

Anyone buy the 42" 1080p Daenyx tv door crasher? I could had bought it, but no ATSC tuner made it a dead deal for me (I refuse to pay for HD when it's free in my city!).

97% scans in at regular price.

your store is a bit disorganized.

the store i went to they had titles clearly marked as 2/$30, and the rest had the normal white tags (EDLP) on them. they were also separated.

The older guy that looked after the entertainment section for years here disappeared a year or so ago and its been all down hill ever since.

their flyer states "50% off their value-priced video games", so i'm guessing that it's whatever was in their dump bins for $18.XX ??

i was in a hurry, so i didn't stay to checkout the prices or the selection (prbly mostly crap anyway)

I went to Wal Mart, the Blu-Rays here are $18.83 - no sign anywhere 2 for $30. HD-DVD's were $18.83 as well. Didn't look like anything good either.

Tons of DVD's tho. Saw 2 LOTR Boxed Sets, some UFC, etc...

Tons of the gum as well.

The ad just had a vague "value games half price". All the 18.93 ones say "value", but the multi packs don't scant half off. Ours has these games in multiple locations, the bin (recently returned after being removed in the fall again, is quite aways from the entertainment section), across from the game cases with the pc games, at the end of the row of game cases, and some inside the game cases. A significant number of games in the case have either no price at all or outdated price.

I went to 2 Walmarts. One of them finally had all the HDDVD and Blu-Rays that were on sale separated and in a display like the regular DVD's in those cardboard displays. It looks like a separate shipment because they had a lot of copies of the same movies and did not look like the movies were separated from their regular high def display. If you don't see it, then the stores are probably late putting em out from the back or never got them. They were all tagged with sale prices.

Also for video games, I think anything under say $20 is half price. I got All-Pro Football 2k8 for $9.47. It was tagged $18.96 and behind their glass display. Someone also mentioned Full Auto was $9.47 scanned in another thread. So if you see something cheap behind the glass that you want get it scanned and it'll may be half price.

Ahhhh just back from walmart, looks like they must have put msot of the 18.93 ones into the bin at some point as stacks of games like sonic and table tennis are all gone, and one lonely wii mercury meltdown is now in the bin (which has been almost cleared out including all the old crap that was overflowing it boxing day morning)

Mercury meltdown was a rare full price game I bought as filler for free shipping on the amazon Virtual fighter 5 deal. They shipped MM, V5 now showing jan 31 to ship. I can't win :(

Beowolf is 18.93 but doesn't scan half off. Someone mentioned BBV changing values on thurs so passed on buying at 19.

One poor kid getting games out of the case, running the cash, and answering all the "how much is this one with no price" questions. Beyond me why they don't go to self serve with the games like FS.

Went on the 27th. Refused to go on the 26th :). Not much to my liking in DVDS. But I did pick up the 2 disc widescreen of Spider-Man for $7.50 (was given the Fullscreen but opened it before I had realized it was the wrong one and watched it recently on my 37 inch widescreen and noticed how much Fullscreen sucked) and Iron Man. My daughter found the Care Bears Movie from 1985 for $3.99. Now that's a great price! :)

Got the guitar at the Walmart on Carling/Richmond... sounds like they had a few today. The lady was kind enough to hold the last one for me.

really wish their flyer was more clear in terms of which games qualify.

had it said all $18.XX games, it would've been pretty clear that it's any games in the dump bin.

i guess i'll have to do some self-check scanning if i find anything i'm interested...

interesting to hear that games in the display cases scanned in cheaper, and the price seems to indicate the "1/2 off BD/W" discount...

i'll have to check that one out.

I'm thinking now it's not just the price but how their pricing works. The clearance or discounted stuff must be half off that ends in 3 or 6 or whatever they use.

personally, i find it hard to determine what their clearance prices are.

seen too many variations

$18.93 - clearance games dump bin (as always)

there have been MANY occasions where items were being cleared at the full $ amts (i.e. ending w/ ".00" pricing)

however, the latter is what i've witnessed more freq.'ly at WM

Trying to upload pics to take advantage of their $10 sale. I'd save about $9.

Their Uploader keeps timing out even when I'm uploading 5-7 pics.
