My mom is looking for a new or 1 year old small car, she has a 97 Honda Civic and wants to stick around that size.
Any suggestions on a reliable 4 door car? She's been looking at the Accent and Yaris.
Thanks

Why not a 2008 Honda Civic?

Sadly I think that will be out of her price range, she had to take an early retirement due to health reasons.

what's wrong with the current car? Civics are generally reliable if you maintain it properly?

In that case, a one-year-old 2007 Civic would probably cost less (or at least not more) than a brand-new 2008 Accent.

cdnNick, how about an entry level Mazda3 - Mazda has 0% financing for 60 months right now for the month of December on all 2008 models. ZERO PERCENT!!! That's nuts!!!
I was actually just in there yesterday to take a look at the Mazda Tribute. Great pricing. Don't look at just the MSRP, but look at the cost of buying including interest (in this case, there is none for Mazda). Anyways I was at the Mazda of Toronto dealership and dealt with Jeff Holley (not a sales guy but a Finance Manager there - so he doesn't get commission). Great guy and great service. He's the guy that answers all the Mazda questions in the Mazda thread.

Never thought of a Mazda, I'll put that on the list of suggestions.

It's 10 years old has 250K on it and it's starting to need repairs every few months, she wants to get one before this one dies or costs a fortune to repair. The body is also starting to rust.

the Zenn has a top speed of 40 km/h which means you cant drive it on most streets because you'll be obstructing traffic.
