The tires23 guoted me $560 for Dunlop and $650 for Bridgestone. (215/60R16; tax in, mounted and balanced) Which one would you recommed for the winter weather of GTA? Any comment would be appreciated!

I'm using the Blizzak LM-25's. They're pretty unbelievable in the snow. Check 1010tires etc for customer reviews?

did you check pricing at Walmart, cause I know they have the Dunlop Graspic DS1 pricing in the mini pamphlet, but when I go into Walmart, they also have the DS2, their prices are quite good.

Either tyres aren't bad. Save some money and go with the Graspic's. I've heard good things about the old DS1 and even now DS2.

I have the Dunlop Graspic DS-1 (205/55/16) on my car from Wal-Mart, almost the same size as yours. They work pretty well and look nice too.

Do Blizzak tires still turn into regular winter tires after the tread wears to about 50%???

I suggest you get it at tirerack.com. With the taxes and duties it is still cheaper to get it shipped here than to get it locally.

Yes.

Most winters that use special compounds do this.

Yes, and it is 60%. Most winter tires do have a similar compound to this; but Blizzaks wear alot quicker.

You sure? According to Tirerack their wear is excellent.

Couldn't find any of them in GTA.
Instead, I ended up buying Toyo Observe G02+.
Toyo offered me $60 MIR.

Have you considered the Michelin Pilot Alpine (PA2). I bought these for the wife on her 04 Mazda 3 Sport GT and I can't seem to wipe out. Even the anti locks don't kick in!!!!!!

I'm not sure the jury is totally out for wear on the new WS-60s. The old Blizzak WS-50's used to wear like crazy (esp if you left them on in any warm weather), but the others have been totally redesigned and reformulated so I don't think you can assume all Blizzaks wear quickly yet. I know the Michelin X-ice wear quite well for me but I've also had my eye on the Goodyear Ultra Grips as a possible less expensive and equally performing replacement.

Looking at Goodyear Ultra Grips SUV myself. But with the H speed rating it's more like a "performance" winter tire. While X-Ice (which I am using) is really for ice and snow. Not sure if it is suitable for Ottawa/Montreal winter.

I got a call from the tire shop this afternoon. They told me that they couldn't locate any Toyos. No other options but to buy Blizzak WS60 for 729 (w/o rims, but installed). Was not sure if that was good deal.

(w/o rims pricing, except for the Honda)
* $575 from Tirerack (just for tires)-probably need to spend $70-100 more for mounting and balancing (then, $645-675)
* $650 from tires23 (all in) - but they called me later that it's out of stock.
* $560 from 1010 (just for tires) - the final cost would be $630-660

Well, I think I spent a little more than I wanted to pay.

* Only two places had Michelin X-Ice for my size. THE Honda dealer (217(x4) for tire, 100(x4) for steel wheel, 100 for installation - Asking price $1559 "INSANE"
* Costco - out of stock for the season, they only had Michelin Alpin PA3
* Canadian Tire $888 (all in; w/o rims)

No Dunlops whatsoever!

How come every tire shop is running out of tires this winter?

The journey has been finished.
I am going to pick up my Accord tomorrow!

Thanks for all your comments!

maybe because you're buying tires about a month after everyone else has (just search this forum).

i got the ws-60's and they stop better than my friends x-ices, as for wearing this is my first winter with them so i can't really say anything about that just yet.
