Okay, so my girlfriend got this ticket back in september-october of this year and up until about a month ago everything was fine. Now she's stresing a lot and it's starting to piss me off.

She was on her way to my place, and coming off the Gardiner at Lakeshore she was nabbed for doing 10 over. Honestly, in my opinion I've always assumed 10 so be the grace level for speeding. Whatever, she pays the $40 and moves on with her life.

Fast forward to a month ago, and she gets a letter in the mail that says something along the lines of...

Dear Ms. XXXX

You have been found guilty of a recent traffic violation, speeding 68km/h in a 20km/h zone. Please be aware that you now have 4 demerit points because of this offence. With your current level of license, G2, you are allowed a maximum of 6 demerit points on your license before it will be suspended.

Driving safely protects you and the citizens on Ontario. Have a nice day.

Needless to say, she was stunned. Hell, I'm still kind of confused how the hell it got recorded as 68 in 20 instead of 68 in 60. Honestly, the only 20km/h zone that I know exists is in High Park. Did the person inputting the info not read what they were writing?

Anyways, what I'm hoping is that someone here will be able to help me/us in getting this sorted out. She called the number on letter (that I quoted above) and they basically said "sorry, we just do what the courts tell us to. Call this number, we cant do anything." So, she's called the number that they gave her (which I believe is ontario courts) and EVERY time she has gotten the answering machine, and EVERY time the mailbox has been full. Needless to say, she's getting really stressed out.

What do we do?

Yeah we have the original. I payed for it online with a CC, so no reciept. I would have a copy on my CC of the payment, and I think I/we wrote the reference number of the transaction down, but I didn't bother to print the reciept.

I would visit the court where the ticket would have been heard for first attendance with the original ticket. Have them pull their conviction record, as she would have been pleading guilty when the ticket was paid voluntarily online.
Point out the error and request it be corrected with MTO, if necessary to the court manager. If that won't be done, request to appeal the conviction and have it go before a justice.

Mistakes happen. Call up the MoT and have them correct the mistake.

According to my current car title, I've got a 2002 CSX :p.

EDIT: I should add that she ensure the driving transcripts are corrected as well. You wouldn't want to get booted from insurance for a clerical error.

Had the same issue, apparently I had a 2000 Subaru WRX STI? bwah?
Got that fixed instantly.

Go make a visit or phone call to the MoT, shouldn't take long to correct it especially with receipts and copy of the ticket.
