I'd like to buy a new car. Which dealership is the best based on your experience? Are all the dealership the same in the end?

My family bought two cars from Parkway Honda in mid town and we were really pleased with the sales aspect. When it came time for service I would say they were just average. They didn't do anything wrong, but didn't ever go over and above either.
I've heard good things about Sisley Honda lately, though that is strictly word of mouth.

Personally, I didn't like Sisley, so has taken my Honda to Richmond Hill for a couple of years. But they moved a new place up north, which reminds me of the Sisley in general.
THE Sisley didn't even bother responding a couple of my email recently!

@ roadsport honda i had a prick for a salesperson. (can't rmb his name)
markham honda the sales were pretty nice. but they weren't too good on price (still better than roadsport tho)
ready honda was the easiest to deal with if all you do is go in just to buy and care about nothing else but price (no need for any 'selling'/test drive/etc)... still no match for us pricing but best i could find in gta

I recommend Formula Honda. Friendly and competitive price compare to other ontario dealerships.
I dealt with the sale manager Angelo, he's a nice guy and willing to throw in accessories. I bought 2 civics from him and referred 3 other sales afterwards.
But I won't recommend their service dept since they are just trying to suck your blood. One time they said I need to do alignment and it'll cost over $300. i went to my friend's garage and he told me it's definitely no need for that since my car was so new.

thumbs down for Sisley as well. Their service dept are total crooks (and tried to rope my mom into paying $1500 for services not needed yet) and the sales manager didn't return my calls. There are tons of other dealers around. Richmond Hill Honda is good.

+1 for Formula for sales, I had similar experience from their service dept. If you want to service your car at a Honda dealership, my experience was Parkway was pretty good. Can't complaint when there's wifi to surf RFD when you are waiting for your car.

my family has bought 4 hondas from centre honda, as well as referred at least a couple of ppl a year there to purchase their cars.
Excellent sales service (we deal now with the general manager of the dealership) and we've gotten excellent service when taking out cars in for service.

how about the deal for the accord 2008 LX for 298+tax for 48 months......
I've been to many Honda dealership in GTA over the last 10+ years for purchasing or servicing my vehicles, I have never encountered this much negative comments towards one specific dealership. "THE Sisley" But I think that a lot of ppl still go there and buy their product. That's why they don't care, I guess.
While searching for the best deal for a month, I found the above deal from the Honda website as well. Based on my calculation, the cap cost is about $400 over invoice. I came to conclude that it is a better deal than some pricing services. I bought the car yesterday. 1.9% lease rate for 48 months (-1% loyalty discount & $1000 after tax manufacturer rebate)
If anyone needs more information, please shoot.

anybody want to share their price on 08 civics they bought in Canada. Looking at 08 LX. Had a 96 civic for 11 years. Loved it, till the son totalled it off.

No matter how desperate you are, do NOT go to Sisley for service.
List of things they've done (exposing how dumb I am for going back):
- Leaving my car unlocked in their back lot overnight (lost CD collection)
- Giving me an oil change, but failing to refill the engine oil. Luckily I noticed that the oil was light was going on occasionally, so I put three litres of oil in, avoiding major engine damage. At least they gave me a credit for the work.
- Inspected my heat shield for noise and solved the problem by just removing it, without asking, and refusing to replace it when I basically demanded that they do so.
- Told me I needed around $2000 in work that wasn't required, for parts that look perfectly fine, probably because I'm a girl. That's just the feeling I get.

I used to drive a 2000 Civic, let's put it this way. The new gen will drive and feel just like the old model. It felt just right when I went for the test drive. HOWEVER, the build quality isn't as great anymore. I bought mine November last year, my driver side window is already rattling a bit, so I have to bring it in for repair. The plastic inside is very much prone to scratches.
Other than that, I still enjoy driving my civic. :D

Sorry to hear of your misfortunes, hopefully your car is still doing well given their lack of competence in servicing.
Sadly, it reminds me of my shopping experience at Parkway Honda. See:

any experience on Centre Honda?
Just brought my wife's Accord there for service (first time) and was pretty happy with them. No trying to upsell me with "you need service A,B,C", all they did was fix the problem I had with the car. Great communication back and forth. After going to Sisley for so long, it seems like night and day.
The only good thing that Sisley has going for it is that it's across from Centrepoint mall so my wife could just go shopping while waiting for the car to be fixed.

Time to revive this post. I was going to buy Toyota, but after dealing with a bait and switch case on the phone and some sales ppl that just plain lied, I decided to research some more. I find Honda's Civic Promo with 0.9% over 36 months pretty good (cash price lower than finance price??). Got the invoice price from CCC and is now looking at which dealer to go to for a test drive.
I saw in this thread that Sisley is not good (arrogant) and Markham Honda has a bunch of sales that don't know anything and won't budge on prices. That leads me to this question. Anyone had good experiences with Honda sale in GTA in terms of attitude and the price they offer?
The 2009 Honda Models are coming so I assum they are looking to clear out stock. How close to the CCC invoice price can I start my negotiation with for a Cvic?
Thanks!

picked up my 2008 Honda Accord Coupe EX-L V6 today from Markham Honda
look for a sales guy named Khai Luu. He's a pretty new salesperson (like 1 week on the job when I met him) so he's not yet gone to the "dark side" like the more experienced sales people (ie. the pushy, fast talking and act smart type) When he gave me the bill of sale to review, he didn't push me to review quickly and let me take my time to calculate everything myself at my own pace. We had a conversation after I made my purchase and I told him that he should make a thread here about Hondas like how JeffBiz made a thread on Mazdas. lol. Apparently, this guy is an RFDer but rarely posts in this section and one of the founders of RFD named Derek is a HS classmate of his. lol
Anyways, i'll have to give this guy bonus points cause he's pretty objective about car importation. Prior to buying this car, I was considering importing a G37 from the U.S. but that plan fell apart due to my mom not wanting to help chip in on the deposit since she thinks the importation process has a lot of risk (even though, as evident by MM's post, there is NONE). Also one of my coworkers said that since it's my first car, get something simpler and cheaper so I can get the experience as a car owner. blah blah...to my friends on CarsWithoutBorders and MM's thread, sorry for selling out :D.....but enough about me.
This Khai guy was pretty objective about it cause my mom told him that I was planning to import a car and I thought I would get the same usual b/s that a lot of sales managers or sales people in Canada would say so I was ready to go to a debate with this guy. Instead, he admitted that there's money to be saved when buying in the U.S. but he thinks it's a long complicated process and it turns him off on the idea. :D
However, he did not know a lot of about the car. We went for a test drive once and I asked about how to use the sound recognition system on the NAVI and he didn't know. He bravely admitted that he didn't know much about the car. Even though a sales person should know about the features of their car, I knew what I was getting into. I did my homework before I made my purchase so I didn't mind but a sales person should know about his/her products so.....yeah...Khai...better study up on the 2009 Accords lol
I'll give my dealership experience 4/5. They should get more brochures cause I don't like to go to another dealership to get a brochure. Also, of course, pressure Honda Canada to lower prices that are close to U.S. prices (this suggestion applies to all manufacturers). This car is about $7000 more than the U.S. model. I mean...wtf Honda Canada?! But as a Canadian who did not have the option to import, I paid $72 over invoice and I didn't even haggle much so I say that's pretty good. Maybe, I could've done better but overall, i'm satisfied with the price.
That missing 1 point is due to another issue which I won't talk about until at least 3 weeks later. And no, it has nothing to do with the salesperson.

Markham Honda is absolutely horrible. Don't get my wrong, I'm Chinese myself, but the Chinese sales guys at Markham Honda ONLY car about sales. My family went in, said we didn't plan on buying that day, and then he didn't want to answer any of our questions, and there was only one other family in there, which was already being taken care of.
So, we went to somewhere close to our place, the Erin Mills auto mall, and the Honda dealership there was EXTREMELY nice to deal with. They asked if we were planning to buy that day, we said no, but we still walked out with a car.
Our sales guy, Moe, was a great guy to talk to, and they are quite flexible with pricing. Even after we had bought the car, and had to go back for servicing and such, he would give us some freebies.

It all goes down on who the person dealing with at the dealer. Just because you meet an unfriendly person at the dealer, doesn't mean everyone is bad working there.
As fellow RFD, you should do all your research before going to the dealer (like look at price online, ask a few people), you gonna get rip off if you don't especially for service related stuff.

My wife and I are seriously in the market for a passenger sedan.
Went to Richmond Hill Honda today. First off, they don't have anyone greeting you (this is at a very reasonable 6 pm). Secondly, the car that I was interested in, the Honda Accord, was not on display.
All fine and good, so I ask the salesperson if there is one inside (no) and if I could take a look at one since I drove all the way to their dealership.
He walks out with me to the lot, points at the Accords and basically says, there they are.
He has the gall to then give me his business card and tell me to call him when I'm ready to purchase and he'll have a car ready. No offer of test drives (which I wasn't interested in anyways) and no information about the car at all.
The bloody arrogance of Honda. This is the reason that we didn't buy them 2 generations ago and have had a Mazda and Toyota since. This is despite their 25% drop in sales (which I fully think they deserve).
Their product isn't even the top rated and is no longer head and shoulders above all others. My parents owned 3 generations of accords so I am always keenly interested in them when I am shopping for cars.
I hate to say it, but even in this economy AND with their flagging sales, they are still arrogant SOB's.
And yes, I understand that it is the individual salesman that gave me the cold shoulder. But obviously, the dealership condones it. IF my staff acted that way towards our clients on a consistent basis, it would be a cause for dismissal!

word of advice, don't go to any dealerships in Markham or Richmond Hill. Considering most of the dealerships in the area cater to the......rich Chinese immigrant clientele, these dealerships don't like shoppers who think rationally. Try going to the dealerships in the east (ie. Ajax, Pickering), south (ie. Scarborough, Downtown) or west (ie. Mississauga)
In a couple of posts above, I said that I bought my Accord from Markham Honda. However, I would only give praise to the salesperson I dealt with because he was pretty straight up and honest. I knew most of the facts about the car before I went in and he didn't pull any tricks which was good.
However, I had a problem with the F&I manager. F&I Manager was really pushy and tried to pressure me because I was a first time car buyer. I don't know if the credit protection/life insurance packages are the bread and butter for these F&I managers but she was pushing these packages really hard. I declined all rust proofing and leather conditioning stuff but she still tried to push those things to me and had the audacity to say "if you think I am making a commission on these things, you're wrong." lol
basically, salesperson = good. F&I manager = bad. Before considering going to this place, think about the fact that you HAVE TO interact with the F&I manager no matter what. If you don't get through the F&I manager, you don't get your car. I comment, you decide.

My family had an amazing experience with READY HONDA! We dealt with Brent (Business Manager - so no hassle of salesman having to go back and forth to his manager for sale approval) in buying a new 2008 Accord. Even service is fantastic and I never felt pressurized for any "extra work needed" apart from what was displayed on the Maintenance Minder System. Without asking, they even washed my car while it was getting its B1 service performed.
EDIT: oops typo! Name of the manager is Brent and not Brett.

I worked at 2 Honda dealers, both had good, honest, genuine sales people & bad, dishonest, scum of the earth sales people. I'll bet there probably isn't a Honda dealer that doesn't have 1 bad sales person, just don't judge an entire dealer on that person, as no dealer will be perfect.

lol I don't think Asians get any better treatment at these places. The Chinese salespeople at these dealerships know how Chinese customers think so they usually use that to their advantage.
For example, prior to going to Markham Honda, I went to Action Honda. It was the first Honda dealership I went to during my car shopping. I had to deal with a Chinese salesperson and I am Chinese too btw. I went for a test drive and gone through the numbers. After, I decided that I wanted a quote, talk it over with my mom over lunch and shop around. I told the salesperson that I "wanted to think about." (basically a nice way of putting that I wanted to shop around) However, this guy said that the printer was broken so he couldn't give me a quote on paper. lol Also, he said that he's willing to drive me to my mom and all three of us can talk about it over lunch. LOL Eventually, I managed to get away and never went back.
