I had bad experience twice with Toyota, at Don valley north and Toyota Scar, they were plainly rude, and buy the car or leave attitude, and as for test drive, it was asking too much of them!

Similar experiences?

nope... but it also depends a lot on how you present/carry yourself when you get there.

I was at Don Valley a couple weeks ago looking at the lexus and the sales was very nice and asked if i wanted to go for a ride in the IS i was looking at. and after that just gave me the brochure, and told me when would be a good time to get my trade apprased and stuff.

very pleasant experience and i even got a card/letter few days later thanking for my interest

I think it's Hit and Miss. I was at the Whitby Toyota dealership, Guy tells me the truck i want isn't available for 2 months, Wouldn't budge on the price and offers nothing for my trade-in.

I went to Wietzes Toyota at Dufferin and Steeles. Very friendly, I was test driving my truck in minutes. Came down 500 on the price and gave me $350 for my Trade-In. I also had my truck a week later.

I have rule of thumb for Toyota shopper in GTA. The closer you get to Markborough, the more chances you have to get an attitude from salesperson in Toyota stealership. Some of them are not even bothering themselves to get a command of English, having enough HK clientele to sustain their livelihood, and they don't hesitate for a bit to show it to you. Same, but to a slightly less extremes, goes for Brampton and Toyota salespeople from India. Generally I would say that Toyota's sales force in Etobicoke/North York/Vaughan/Thornhill/RH have more customer friendly attitude, but don't look for 5-star treatment here too. With neverending love affair between Canadians and Toyota, salespeople don't have to bend over backward to score a sale, and they do know it.

The folks I've dealt with at Burlington Toyota have been great. Some of the nicest car salespeople I've ever met...

Well, one gentlemen was asian, the other was indian, I wanted to smack them for the lack of interest in selling and lack of knowledge about the car they are trying to sell. Well, I ask a lot of technical questions, and I demand you know it, otherwise why are you selling cars, that might be just be me.

Lexus will always treat you well, you are buying premium car, and they are making money on you.

ummm..they are selling you a car, not fixing your car, so i dont see why they would or should know answers to technical questions. What they need to know is the options available, packages and pricing.

you sound like a jacka$$ already from this post ("demand" they know an answer?, "smack" them?", so its understandable they ignore or even be rude to you.

suprisingly ive found toyota sales people to be asses. but thats because they know their going to sell something at the end of the day.
best customer service was at the saab dealership near bayview eglinton. when i walked in just wearing a hoody and jeans they asked me if i wanted to test drive a 9-7x without me even utering a word.

What? Toyota sales people think they are the upper eshilon now because Toyota is tops in sales for 2007? And expect only to deal with people who are there only to buy? What is the world coming too? Do they think they are high-end car dealers now?

Sorry.. 2008, I think Toyota will be back down to Earth again.
For years, their cars were built pretty good...but GM is catching up with better line of cars for 2008.

I at Ken/Shaw a few months back looking at the Camary...no service.
The moment I went over to the Lexus side.. different story. I guess the sales must have been slow. The prices weren't reflecting the current market conditions so I left.

Most salespeople only know or want to know what package upgrades to sell you... they could care less about the detailed specifications or technical stuff on the car. Their motto... "If you ain't buying and just asking questions, your wasting my time"

Seriously.. if you demand to know these technical things.. since you're on a computer, use it and get the information. You'll probably get 100 times more info from the internet them from a salesperson.

i was looking @ an is300 2 years ago @ DVN. the sales was incredibly nice. i went after work so i was @ least wearing dress shirt/pants.

the service i got was a lot better than the service i got @ honda/mazda dealers (roadsport honda sales was a prick)

neway. i didn't have the intention to buy. i wanted to test drive because i was deciding on which car to buy. the sales had ZERO pressure @ all. in fact, he told us NOT to buy and that we should wait for the is250/350 since it was coming out in a couple months.

however, i dealt with another lexus salesperson when my aunt was lookin for a corolla (not sure y she got a lexus sales to help her buy a corolla... but she requested for that guy)... and he got royally ripped off...

so yes.. it is vry hit/miss

DVN parts is pretty nice tho

Beware of DVN toyota, they will sell above MSRP if you didn't come prepare with all the info.

One of the sales (from mainland china) in that stealership tried to secretly add an additional "protection insurance fee" for $355 something like that on the final price without telling us. I pointed it out to her and asked her to scrap it out before I change my mind to buy.

And you would hope that at least the sales manager is more "honest" to you, well it turns out...

the sales manager @ don valley north toyota is also a complete prick, the asian dude with a funny eye has a really big attitude. He was scamming us to pay full price 899? on the rustproofing/paint/etc package and wouldn't budge on the price. At the end he agreed to lower down only by 100, I laughed and rejected his offer. Got it done at somewhere else for $120 instead.

I just PM'd you the name of a Toyota General Sales Manager who doesn't beat around the bush and gets the sale done to make the customer happy (high volume dealership). Don't forget to use my name as reference!!!!

Good Luck!!!!

Cars arent meant to be bought at full price, and that has been proven with TIME

if you have no problem paying the dealer ridiculous amount of profit on the rust/fabric/paint package then by all means go for it, it's your money. Why even browsing redflagdeal forums? I guess you are not here looking to save some $$$ :cheesygri

ummm...this holds true for any good, but if you want a good be it a car or clothing when its new and in most demand, you will pay near if not over msrp for it. cars are meant to be bought at whatever price the consumer will bear.

by your reasoning, we should never buy anything cause it'll depreciate a bit more the next day most of the time. what good is wanting/needing to buy a car but you have to wait a couple of years when the price drops? are you going to take the TTC or car pool for that time.

what has been proven with TIME is that cars usually are in most demand when its new and over time depreciate, but that doesnt mean those buying it first are stupid, they got their cars when t hey wanted, and didnt have to wait. there's a price to pay for having the newest the soonest

i guess you never learned to read, why are you even here? you need to learn to read first to understand the deals.

i never said, the dealer prices are low or even fair, just that it is not being scammed when a consumer pays MSRP for a service when they are free to choose to buy it or not and the product itself is not misrepresented.

My experience with RoadSport Honda (that's what I presume you meant) was good.

Went in for a test drive on a Wednesday night, sales guy just hands the key to my friend and I who went together. He gave us a gas card and told us not to take too long. And off we went by ourselves. After coming back, not much pressure since I told him I wanted to test drive other cars out there. He leaves me his card, told me to talk to him whenever I'm ready.

Went back on Saturday after testing out a few other cars, got some decent discount on the car, and picked up my new car on the following Tuesday.

sorry to bring this old thread alive again..

I was at DVNT tonight and it completely pissed me off... Wasted 3 hours (2 hours just to wait for the sale guy to deal with another customer, and BTW I have made an appointment and the sales guy said ok to come, and 1 hour wasted to find out the car I wanted is not even available)

A big thumb's down for Jackson Toyota in Barrie. They try and charge full price for used cars, and don't seem willing to move on their prices at all. I won't even go into how their shop tries and rips you off, but when you are more satisfied with your service at VW...that's really saying something ;)

Last week, the sale guy said he can order whatever color I wanted, even I asked him saying because elsewhere I have checked they all said is really hard to get a Prius. He still assure there is no problem.

Today I called ahead in the afternoon and try to make an appointment for this evening. And he accepted my appointment, turns out at the same time, he has to delivery a car to a customer. I was like, WTF?! Why don't you tell me to come an hour or two later?

Oh the final blow they give me tonight at Don Valley North Toyota is trying to sell me a 09 Prius, and they said subject to price INCREASE or DECREASE. i.e. if the 09 model price increase by $500, I have to pay the diff. I was like WTH kind of deal is that. Not to mention 09 Prius is not even available on Toyota we site yet. Plus I told him I am going to lost the $2000 eco rebate on 09 model as well. And still no change was made. I was like WTF?! Why wasting my time? Trying to bait and switch on something that's not even available?! I have no respect for that sales guy and the dealership anymore. I don't care if they have a hugh show room or is the highest volume dealership what so ever.

A broken promise is a broken promise; a lie is a lie. Simple as that.

Find the vehicle and options you want at any dealer, then use the APA to buy it. Painless.
