Need advice to lease honda civic

The honda dealer agreed to give me the deal below for leasing 2008 honda civic LX.

0 downpayment, 48 months.

Monthly payment 300 (tax included), The buy back is 10868.20. (PDI and the delivery included).


Is this a good deal? Please advice. Thanks.

As always, what is the capital cost? What is the invoice cost?

It looks like you negotiated a monthly payment. Not the best method. Always negotiate the purchase price + fees and A/C and gas tax. The monthly payment will be what it will be.

48 * 300 = 14400
+ 10900 = 25300 final price is what you payed for the civic LX

- You are eligible for $1000 in ecoAUTO rebates from the government for the Civic
- MSRP is $22675 and invoice is $21185 <-- For a coupe
- 1.5% Lease Rate (very good)
- $250 dealer participation fee. This means it costs the dealer $250 to give you that lease rate, kind of lame but whatever.

Freight & PDI is $1,295

So the net vehicle price is $23,475 with frieght&PDI included.

Residual value(buy back) is 10,868.20.
So the amount to be amortised is 12.6060.80

Interest rate is 1.5% for 48 months lease.


After the bargain, I got
the monthly payment is $300(include tax) with Buy back(10868.20). It also includes the feature of protection plus.(If the car was stolen, I could get some money back.)


By the way, I did not see civic 4 dr automatical is on the list of eligible cars for ecoAUTO rebates

Sounds like I already did.

I understand you prefer to budget by monthly payment. I agree. For budgeting.

But the easiest way to negotiate a good deal on a car is to work on the purchase price. Everything else can be calculated from that point. To negotiate monthly payment makes the math harder to figure out what you're actually agreeing to. You want the math to be easy and transparent. It's the salesman who wants to convince you the math is hard and to let him or her work it out, but what a great monthly payment you got!

Once you calculate that monthly payment, then you can see if it fits in your budget. It's not like you're going in to a negotiation for a car and not knowing if the monthly payment will be $300 or $500 (although, I'm sure some people do). Have a ballpark idea going in, so you're already looking for a car in your approximate budget, then work to negotiate a price that will end up taking up as little of that budget as possible.

If you approach a dealer and tell them your strict budget is $400/month, then congratulations, you'll be paying $400 per month.

Without considering A/C tax, admin. & lease fee, your base cap cost would be
around 22,600, which is 875 off the MSRP. It's decent deal!

I am also interested in this civic 08 LX. Dealer showed us 23,800 plus tax. Seems high to me. Any idea what we should pay.
