2008 toyota tacoma

I 2 am mixed up in this whole US to Canada import frustration.I didn't think we lived in Russia.I purchased a NEW 2008 pick up from the USA from a dealer.Now RIV Canada says not admissible into Canada???BUll,all Toyota trucks in Canada are built in the USA,12000.oo cheaper in the US.I have emailed Toyota Canada X3 and NO response.I have gone to my MP yet still NO answers.Although Toyota did put a big add in the local paper saying High Canadian dollar discount....yeah right on selected models and some discount only 1000.00,I for one will not buy another Toyota until something is done,and if nothing is done,I will import a new 2008 Ford which seems to show admissible.Thanx Toyota for the f@#$%$%^ all these years

To the best of my knowledge, 2008 Tacoma and Tundra have been on the RIV inadmissable list since at least November 1st becasue of the immobilizer issue.

Had you checked RIV before you purchased?

If thats the case you can probably get an immobilizer installed, then contact RIV to get an exception notice so you can bring it in...

I noticed a couple of your recent posts are making comments that are incorrect. eg. Toyota warranty and immobilizer issues. I believe that Toyota will honour the warranty and with respect to immobilizers, there are high level discussions ongoing with resolution hoped for in the next couple of weeks. These issues have been discussed at length on this site and elsewhere. You may want to scan through this thread (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=307601)to get up to speed. The issues are complex but the linked thread will help clarify them for you.

actually I was following anotehr thread and I just realized my error on the Toyota warranty issue so I am about to correct it. As you can probably tell from my recent threads I am in the process of deciding on a car so I am following a lot of the recent discusssions. Sorry for any incorrect information I may have posted elsehwere!

Yeah, thats your first mistake.

Anyways, I read in the paper that they're allowing people with cars inadmissable because of the immobilizer to drive their cars home, but thats it. i.e. you can drive it to your driveway, but then it's got to sit there till they sort out the whole thing, which as the prof said, is supposed to be in the next few weeks.
