The Visaperks program and TELUS has a mutual promotion, if you buy a phone online and it will be a new activation (any new activation, prepaid, no contract, 1 and 2 year as well) you pay with your VISA card and you enter the promotion code VNAVY, you will get a $50 Old navy gift card. The gift cards will be sent 1 month after the activation. See details. It is available for all phones, online only.

$50? That's pretty weak on Telus's part.

$50? That's pretty weak on Telus's part.

Why would it be weak? It is not on 3 yrs, you can get it on a cheap pay and talk as well. For 3 yrs you will get a $75 Banana Republic or Future Shop gift card.

I agree. These multi billion dollar life sucking companies throw us a chicken bone and hope we choke on it. How about a real deal for gods sake. I would love to see what the marketing boob at Telus could score w a $50 cert to ON.
A tshirt that shrinks before you get it home. It's these kind of slaps in the face that push me never to deal w Telus ever

As I recall, Rogers was offering $100 giftcards at Futureshop on 2yr activations.

If its true and you can get it on Pay and Talk activations, then I would say warm. But I doubt this is applicable to Pay and Talk.

I agree. This deal is HOT for the simple reason that you can get this deal on Pay and Talk phones from Telus which are cheaper to buy than the same phone on a month to month basis from Telus. It would be weak if you had to sign a contract for 3 years to get this. Before calling something weak, think about it for a few minutes before generalizing.

so what's the cheapest phone available?

I just received and activated my refurbished Samsung A645 that I got for $39.95 + taxes. I activated my card and to my surprise it had $75 on it (I was expecting $50). I activated it online for $10, so I have $65 left. I also will get the $50 gift card from old Navy (after 30 days).

This phone is for my stepdaughter who will be here for about 3 weeks (she was overseas in University). I have her on the $2/day unlimited local incoming, early evening and weekend calling, and unlimited text messaging. So that'll eat up $42, so there's $23 left for all other calls not covered in the $2 plan (I don't think she'll use it up and have to top up). After that, I have no need for the phone any more.

Anyone else get the $75 credit?

what would qualify as a 'new' activation?

I just lost my old phone and bought the A645 Sammy to replace it.

I entered the promo code and it showed up in the cart but i'm not really expecting too much of it. Otherwise this would have been relatively hot.

$39 phone + $50 activation credit + $50 gift card...

I'm only on pay and talk so I might just get a new phone number if I have to.

I saw this deal is still available on the TELUS website until May31,08- for the $50 GC....so do I need to order a phone online? or can I go into a FS/BB and purchase the phone with my visa and call TELUS? They don't sell the phone I want (sam m210) as pay and talk anymore...any advice?

You will have to buy it online and just to be sure use your visa card if you have one as it is a visa perk. I received my GC in 2 weeks of ordering the phone via fed ex

Excuse my ignorance, but I took part in this offer last december, and got my Gift Card....

What I want to know is, is this deal still on? Can a friend of mine buy a phone now and still get a Gift card? Reason I ask is that this thread isn't in expired deals?

Edit: woops, I see the new expiry date...

I believe this deal is still on. the cheapest phones are $69 for pay and talk plus you get $50 activation credit. keep an eye out as I got a $50 samsung m200 making it essentially a free phone plus $50 old Navy GC
