View Full Version : $5 Schooners and $2.75 bottles at Boston Pizza all December, (only one location)

Hi guys,

Not sure if this applies to all BP's, but on Friday me and some buds went for some drinks at one in burlington (can't remember where, maybe near walkers line?).

Anyhow, the waiter told us that all through december it's $5 schooners of ANY beer, and $2.75 bottles and rail. We were absolutely FLOORED when we heard this. We ordered schooners of stella, and sure enough when we got our bill it was $5!

Not sure if this is just that location, or if the waiter's a moron (he said it was for December, but we went on Nov. 30 and we still got the deal. Maybe he rang the bills in after midnight?) It's definitely worth checking out though.

If anyone knows if this is a chainwide thing, or just that location, feel free to fill us in!

Later:D

Not all locations. I was at the winston churchill location and my rickards schooner was $6.XX, still a decent deal regardless for a beer that mammoth.

The Boston pizza on allen road has 5.25 schooners all the time if I recall correctly.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but I can't understand how they're allowed to discount the price of alcohol for such an extended period of time.

It's been a few years since I worked in the industry, but I seem to remember that there was a law in place that only allowed alcohol prices to be reduced for a temporary period of time (like a daily "Happy Hour"), but it was not allowed to be reduced for an extended period (like an entire month). Many bars/restaurants get around this law by offering a package deal (like a pitcher of beer and a pound of wings for $18) and then they simply discount the price of the food to make it a good deal, but from the sounds of this, no food needs to be ordered at BP to get the cheap beer. So I'm wondering if this is even legal?

What's a schooner?

32 oz of beer for about 6.25 $

or $5 if your lucky enough to be around a boston pizza which has the deal.

Around here it's called a "Thundermug"I guess in the maritimes they take boats too seriously to use the name "Schooner" for a mug

Actually, if I'm not mistaken it is illegal for bars in Ontario to have a 'happy hour' or offer discounts period. Essentially what they have to do, is state that their regular price for the beer is $X.XX and during their non "sale" times the beer increases to $X.XX. Thats the bar at UTM did.

Its probably more because they don't want to associate the mug with the ******-ass beer that is called 'Schooner".

That was the first thing I thought this post was about, bottles of Schooners for $2.75. The only reason I even came into the thread was to post "I wouldn't drink a bottle of Schooner if someone PAID me $2.75".

IMO OP should clarify post title :P

not sure bout laws.. but what if they just want to sell it cheaper and make less margin? ie: selling by volume instead of price?

The way the law works: (by day I mean drinking day)

Legally any establishment is allowed to change the price of alcoholic beverages once a day.

We do not have the happy hours because that would entail lowering the price, then raising it again once over. You will notice bars have cheap drinks before 11 or any random time because they in fact are only raising the price once a day.

It is perfectly fine to lower the price for the entire month, every day is a new day.

Went last night after work! $5 on premium Schooners too! They said this is for all of December.

They are also open until 2am now. (I believe the menu said the kitchen was open to 2 also.)

They also appear to have daily specials on stuff. $7 Nachos and so on (Mondays).

I assume this is to get business back from the Jack Astor's that just opened up and is very busy.

Should try to compile a list of all participating locations. So far, the only confirmation we have is one Burlington location. Budfrogs, mind posting which BP you went to last night? It'd help a lot :)

Thanks OP - I went out for drinks earlier and had been planning on taking advantage of this deal.

I went to the Burlington location (http://www.bostonpizza.com/index.php?q=bostonpizza_restaurantsmenus_restauran tmenulocator&city=Burlington&prov=on) (Guelph Line & South Service Road.) I had previously called the Burlington location at Dundas St & Appleby Line and they had confirmed the deal as well.

The tables have a card that lists the following.

$2.75 - Highball, Domestic Bottles, or 14 oz Draught.

$5.00 - Schooner 30 oz (However, their menu states a schooner as 32 oz.)

The regular rates for a Schooner are $7.95 for a Domestic (Coors Light, Canadian, or Budweiser) and $8.95 for a Import/Premium (Rickards Red, Keith's, Heineken, Rickards White etc)

The $5.00 deal applied to both Domestic as well as Imports & Premium.
