Hi Folks:

Snow season has already set in. Just wanted to know what is the lowest price for the ice/snow salt. This is the first time i will be buying salt. It will be also reference point for others also.

Please mention Quantity / Price / Source

I purchased a 20 kg bag at Canadian Tire 10 days ago for $3.99

That is about as good as it gets

late last winter around march, I picked up 20 bags of those yellow salt bags from Zellers for $0.50/bag on clearance... Regular was $3 or something :lol:

get what you need now, and wait until end of winter to stock up

is the more expensive stuff worth it?

ex. the alaskan ice melter at costco? it's $15 i believe.

It's expensive, but it's more friendly to plants and concrete.

Plus it actually melts the ice right away and dissolves. Salt just stays there until it fully dissolves from more rain and snow. We have a dog so we only use the ice melter as salt can cut up their paws quite badly.
