Greetings,

We just bought and moved into a new house not too long ago and there is still a lot of things to buy and decorate

I am just wondering if it's a good idea to look for deals on *summer* stuff now, seeing that retailers will most probably reduce the prices to unload any leftover inventory. Here's a list of summer things that we still need to buy, please feel free to add anything else you deem necessary to the list

- BBQ

- dehumidifier

- A/C

- gardening related and outdoors stuff

- blinds

- ceiling fans?

I find that major retailers get rid of their summer stuff by about August/September and don't really have much left after that. If you keep your eye open, sometimes you come across it but you've probably missed most of the summer clearance and now have to wait until the end of next summer.

Right now, I'd be looking to buy winter related stuff going on sale or clearance in January-February, particularly if you need a big ticket item like a snowblower.

I don't think blinds and ceiling fans are really 'seasonal' so you might come across the odd discount still.

Patio furniture is what am after. Nice ones that look like sofas, not the cheap CT 4 chairs and a table setup

You will have a pretty tough time at big name retailers at this time of year to find these things on clearance. They can't waste valuable shelf space.

As posted, late August even through Oct is the time. I often find big deals for outdoor home & garden stuff around our Thanksgiving weekend.

If you can make it through this winter, get yourself a snowblower in March

Thanks for the feedback folks

What about second hand websites? Do you think people will generally let things go for a lower price, knowing that they are not in demand at this time of the year or do they simply store their stuff in the garage and wait until the summer for a better price?
