Price of New Home and GST Rebate

Our builder's home prices state that it includes 5% GST. However, in the agreement they also want the New Home Owner GST rebate. Is there any way to fight this?

I had this issue too. In the end the builder told me not to buy the house then. I bought the home anyways and wasn't too pleased to lose this. Bugged me for years. You can try and offer a lower purchase price through the agreement of purchase and sale (tough to do on a new home).

It should say prices include net GST, which means that the abatement is already included as a credit in the price.

The price listed is built on the fact that the GST rebate has been factored in their favour. If it wasn't then the list price of the house would be higher. I don't think I have ever seen this any different.

The agreement probably also mention if for some reason they cannot get the GST rebate, they will come and hunt you down for extra $$$.
