try to reduce it to 205 or even 195 (narrower is better for winter tires)

check Wal-mart , look for Nexen brand (105$ +tax for 215/55/16 exactly)

Canadian Tire has the tire size you want in Goodyear Nordics (you have a Malibu too, eh?), and maybe they'll be on sale with that big sale they have this weekend... They're $113.50 each right now - I bought them a couple weeks ago on sale and had a $25 coupon to boot, bringing the total to $450.

They also have the Michelin X-Ice on sale (if only a little!) for $148.50 each if you're looking for a really highly rated tire.
