My in-laws live in the country and have had the big old antenna for many years.

They are getting a new roof and ready to try a new TV option.

I'm looking for advice on affordable, basic but decent TV. They love the Canadian channels, CBC etc... Extras aren't important.

What is important is availability, installation and fee.

Can anyone make a suggestion? They want to get something ASAp. We are in the Windsor area..

Perhaps an HDTV with a built in tuner, those big antenas are sweet for pulling in free HD feeds...

No. I mean...

The big antenna is gone...

So they need to get either like Starchoice or Expressvu.

Cost, installation included and canadian programming are the essentials here

Starchoice looks good, $100 bucks upfront for the receiver and about $40 a month for the basic package..

Then get a new antenna installed. CM4221 or CM4228 should do you well - from Toronto, I can pick up all the networks from the US and Canada...a lot of them in High Definition, free of charge.

Otherwise Starchoice or ExVu are both pretty decent....but really, if you're just watching CBC, NBC, FOX, CBS, ABC, Global, etc. you should get an antenna.

Thanks
I guess I'm not being clear. This was like a little of a home reno makeover project, no more big antenna eye sore.. they wanted that thing gone been there for 30+ years...

Gonna try a small dish..

I with starchoice will do them fine.

Get a 36"+ satellite dish and pickup the all the free to air channels available.. from "intellisat america" , with a dish receiver.

it will give a fair variety of internationals for entertainment value.

along with: http://www.lyngsat.com/freetv/Canada.html
and http://www.lyngsat.com/freetv/United-States.html

some receivers also allow further program modifications for future upgrades.

I have FTA , but I'm leaning towards starchoice for them.. the $20 deal is more than enough for them maybe...even the $35 dollar package might be overkill
