Are you with telus ? Why did you switch your modem? I have not seen any problems with speed differences between those two modems, if anything the thompson generally works better especially on longer loops.

I'm with teksavvy, my old 2wire modem was giving me trouble due to it's built in wireless capability... is there any way to check the status of thompson's modem??

You may need to update the firmware of your modem. Sadly this will require a google search as Thompson doesn't release these updates directly to the public. I checked a few of my old links and they don't work anymore.

I know there is a UK ISP that provides them but they're tailored for the UK DSL market which works differently than here.

Why don't you just disable the wireless then. I'm using the 2wire one. Maybe ask on dslreports forum

Ya, you can disable the wireless and even the router. You can just use it as a dumb modem and use it with your own router. That's what I'm doing right now.

How do you disable the router portion of the 2700? I am using the 2wire 2700HG with Teksavvy.

Thanks.

Do a google search for '2700HG Bridge Mode'. There's instructions for putting it in Bridge mode, or just disabling the router.
