Yep, hardware support on Vista is spotty at best. Have you tried googling for drivers for your devices? Maybe post some details on what doesn't work, someone may have some more detailed answers if you do.

i jsut tried 2 things. i tried using a kingmax usb key and it didn't work. it works fine on my frd's comp that also uses vista.
another is a kingmax sd card. it worked b4. but for some reason it needs to install a driver now and it can't find it

Ouch, usb keys & SD cards don't usually need any drivers at all, so you may have something else going on there, and I don't think drivers even exist for USB drives for anything since Windows 2000, since every Microsoft OS since then has had built-in support for them. I'm stumped >:(

sd cards used to work fine.. i didn't reformat or anything.. it just stopped working...
when i plug it in, it detects it. but windows pops up the installing software for new hardware thing. and it says it won't function properly w/o it. and it can never find the correct software to install... and if i press don't do anything... the drive doesn't show up...
