Looking for 3 Months free Rogers Internet that Futureshop/Best Buy use to hand out. Or any other similar free promotions.
Going to be switching from Bell to TekSavvy, I am just worried I might be out of internet for few days which I cannot afford cause I work from home. So I am looking for a backup, so it has to be cable internet.

Thank you.

Just go to Futureshop and buy something like a spindle of CDs. They often ask if you want to get internet. If not, ask them if you can get the free 3 months promo. Since it jacks up their commission, it shoudn't be too hard. Just make sure you don't get tied to a 1 yr (or more) contract.

You can get the 3 months free without signing a contract...?

you can sign up through dell for 3 months free service without the need to purchase anything
http://www1.ca.dell.com/content/products/compare.aspx/isp?c=ca&cs=cadhs1&l=en&s=dhs
but you will have to wait 10 business days for installation

Is there a penalty if I cancel it after 3 months? I don't see this info on the page.

nice. Only problem is, as mentioned by redflag, canceling after 3 months.
I am quite sure if I need to solve this problem when I get charged I will be given the run around, Rogers: talk to Dell, Dell: Talk to Rogers and the loop never ends.

Anyone has experience with this sign up method?
Thanks

Oh nice, which futureshop did you go to? Did you have to buy anything? do you have to sign a 1 yr contract?
Please let me know.

Thanks

No need to buy anything or sign a contract. Just go in and ask, anyone will be more than happy to help you because of the commission.

I found out afterwards I bought an imaginary 2ghz computer with 1gb of ram... :)

No contract, just asked somebody. 3 free months to try it out.. if you cancel must give 30 days notice (so cancel after 2 months if you plan to stop)

So does anyone know, what exactly do they do when they come to service and "install" the internet for you?

Do I need to have my computer there? I'm moving in the same day they will be there... so I might not have my computer up and running yet

The FS deal worked for me on Friday.

Went in to the Toronto store, found a bored-looking computer salesperson. Asked for the 3-months free deal, and it just took 10 minutes to have my receipt and confirmation number printed. Didn't have to buy anything.

Called Rogers once I left the store, and had a tech at my door within 24 hours.

Extreme for the 3 months. No contract.
