Hey im a student and in need of a credit card baaad. I spoke to the financial advisor at my td bank branch and she put an application in for me for the student visa. However I was denied as I have no credit history. All my friends also have no credit history but got their credit card easily. I also got my credit report from equifax and shows me nothing, I have no outstanding payments due, but I also have no rating. So I need to know basically how to get a credit card, probably one that is guaranteed approval or something. I dont want anything prepaid though. Any suggestions please msg me.
Thanks

You should be able to sign up to the credit card companies(MBNA) that come by your school. I was told to put the amount of OSAP as income.

That's weird that your own bank would deny you because you have no credit history. I would suggest you try at Royal Bank and apply for their student Visa. They give those out like Candy - got a $1000 limit for my first card.
If that fails however, you're probably going to have to look at applying for a secure credit card (you put down a deposit on the card) until you can establish some credit history and show that you don't pose a repayment risk to the banks.

I had the same problem as you OP, but then I finally applied for an on campus credit card and got it. I recommend applying for one on your school campus and stating you make some amount of money. Hope that helps.
-Good Luck-.

Exactly, the on-campus ones don't care if you don't have an income.
I used to work at one of the big banks and they processed the student ones FIRST because they wanted the students to get the cards ASAP.
